These resources have opened up endless opportunities for creativity and hands-on learning. One of the most memorable moments so far was during a rainy-day recess, when students worked together to build a mini city complete with bridges, towers, and roads. They experimented with different shapes, tested what would stand or fall, and proudly explained their ideas to one another. It was incredible to see how naturally they used problem-solving and teamwork when given the chance to create freely.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the STEM kits, the room filled instantly with excitement. They were eager to open every box, touch every piece, and begin building right away. Many of them started imagining projects before we even finished explaining how the materials worked. Their eyes widened, they whispered ideas to their friends, and some even cheered. Ever since that day, their enthusiasm has not faded. Every time they build something new, they rush over to show me their creations with huge smiles on their faces.\r\n\r\nThese materials will continue to support their curiosity and creativity, both during structured STEM lessons and during their free-choice recess time. Thanks to your generosity, my first graders now have meaningful learning opportunities that spark imagination, build confidence, and encourage them to proudly share their ideas. The new resources are being used to brighten moments throughout the school day—whether that's providing a small surprise for a student who needs a boost, celebrating achievements, or offering a thoughtful gesture during a tough time. Just last week, one of my students was having a particularly hard morning, and being able to hand them a small \"Make the Day Better\" item completely turned their day around. They left my office smiling and ready to rejoin their classmates with renewed energy.\r\n\r\nWhen students first discovered these resources, their faces lit up. Many shared how special it made them feel to know that someone was thinking of their happiness and well-being. For some, it was a simple but powerful reminder that they are cared for, seen, and valued. These small acts of kindness have created an even more positive and supportive school environment, which has been noticed not only by the students but also by staff and families.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, these resources will continue to be integrated into our daily counseling and classroom interactions. We'll use them to reinforce lessons on kindness, gratitude, and resilience, ensuring that students not only receive encouragement but also learn to pass it forward to others. The snacks have become a reliable source of comfort and energy, especially for students who come to my office feeling anxious, tired, or simply in need of a small pick-me-up to help them get through the school day. Just last week, a student who had skipped breakfast came in before a big test, and being able to offer them a healthy snack helped calm their nerves and gave them the boost they needed to focus.\r\n\r\nWhen students first noticed the basket of snacks available, their reactions were filled with excitement and relief. Many expressed gratitude, and some even commented that it made the counselor's office feel more welcoming and safe. Having these resources on hand has not only supported their physical needs but also strengthened our conversations around self-care and well-being.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, I plan to continue using these snacks as a bridge to deeper support. Students are beginning to see the counselor's office as not just a place to talk about challenges, but also a space where their needs are recognized and cared for. Our next steps will include using snack breaks as opportunities to practice calming strategies, talk through worries, and build resilience. In a school environment where many students face challenges such as trauma, anxiety, or unstable home situations, having access to SEL tools creates a safe outlet for processing big feelings. They are especially helpful during one-on-one counseling sessions and in small groups, where students learn coping strategies and self-awareness skills.\r\nThese items also empower students to manage stress independently throughout the school day. A calm-down corner equipped with sensory and SEL tools gives students a designated space to de-escalate and return to learning with a clearer mind.
