We have also noticed that students are calmer, more regulated, and better able to participate in classroom activities after having something to eat.\r\n\r\nOne of the most meaningful parts of having these snacks available has been giving students voice and choice. Rather than simply being given one option, students can choose a snack that they enjoy and feel comfortable eating. The fun variety of choices has made snack time something students genuinely look forward to, while also allowing them to practice making independent choices.\r\n\r\nWe are especially grateful to be able to offer a variety of nutritional choices alongside fun and familiar snacks. The children can see I'm sitting with a student at my table and they just go grab a buzzer and sit down. They know they have their place in line and will get the help they need on their turn. by doing this, it also allows the students to continue working on other parts of their assignments until I am available.
