When the students first saw the picture on the box delivered to our classroom, they were jumping up and down, full of joy! To start off, the class will engage with water, play animals and other water materials during Center time/ free play since we are discussing sea and land animals in class for this week. Then according to what skills that we are working on each week, we will decide on whether to fill the table with sand or water. The students were so excited to see what were inside the boxes delivered to our classroom. They all wanted to play with the life like furniture and people.\r\n\r\nThe students take turns playing in groups of two. They are able to access the dollhouse from all sides due to the open structure of the dollhouse. I have observed lots of communication and conversations around students playing with the dollhouse during center time. I am so overjoyed at watching the students enjoy themselves and using positive social skills with each other. These new S.T.E.A.M. bins, filled with hands-on materials such as Picasso Tiles and other building and exploration tools, will give them opportunities to turn that curiosity into meaningful learning.\r\n\r\nS.T.E.A.M. stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics—but S.T.E.A.M. looks very different in an early childhood classroom!\r\n\r\nFor my 3- and 4-year-old learners, S.T.E.A.M. is about exploring, building, creating, investigating, and learning how to use tools and materials.\r\n\r\nStudents will be able to build structures, experiment with balance, explore shapes and patterns, sort and count materials, solve simple problems, and discover what happens when their ideas don't work the first time.\r\n\r\nThese experiences encourage children to try again, make changes, ask questions, and find new solutions.\r\n\r\nOur S.T.E.A.M. bins will also provide opportunities for students to work together, communicate ideas, practice fine-motor skills, make choices, and develop greater independence.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these materials will give my students the freedom to wonder, create, explore, and discover through PLAY!\r\n\r\nYour generosity will provide much more than classroom materials.
