The kids love working with their hands so they are all so excited to start working with the materials as soon as possible. They all love building things using magnetic tiles. With your donations we have enough magnetic tiles for all of the kids to share and use together during free time or when we are working on building things. The kids also like to stem at times so the slime is going to help them sooth themselves and concentrate on manipulating the slime with their hands. It will help their fine motor skills and help them build hand and finger strength. \r\n\r\nThe kids are also looking forward to using the Phonemic Awareness Game as a class so we can all practice our reading and writing skills. The kids really enjoy the fun colors and images that are on the cards. We also look forward to using the CVC word game to help us read simple 3 lettered words while using the images as a context clue for the kids. Both of these games will help make learning more fun for the kids. We were gifted a book about science that we will read as a class to help the kids further understand what is science. We also received a microscope with some prepared slides that one student specifically went nuts over. She was super excited to use it and start looking at the slides. They are are eager to use the cool stuff. \r\n\r\nI also wanted to thank you for the cleaning supplies. Many of our students have a hard time keeping their work area clean as well as covering their mouths when they sneeze or cough. Having the cleaning supplies will help myself and the staff maintain a clean classroom environment for the kids. We truly appreciate all of your contributions and support.","fullyFundedDate":1767710647158,"projectUrl":"project/help-our-special-kids-grow/9689492/","projectTitle":"Help Our Special Kids Grow!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Sam","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10244369"},{"teacherId":2077424,"projectId":9689058,"letterContent":"Thank you once again for supporting my class. As you know, funds to purchase materials have been cut dramatically in schools and this falls back on the teacher to provide materials to make the class functional. With your donations, I did not have to buy the erasers that students need to erase the whiteboards. The regular erasers are not durable and have to be replaced many times during the year. These erasers are washable and last a lot longer. Also, each student can have their own eraser and do not have to wait on others for an eraser which makes the class run more efficiently. \r\n\r\nThe snacks provided were a big treat to the students!! Many students come to school hungry and when they ask if I have food, I can provide them with a bar to ease the hunger. The snacks also came in handy for after school tutoring as students get hungry by the end of the school day and need a snack to hold them over before getting home. \r\n\r\nWith cold and flu season, the wipes come in very handy to clean and sanitize the desks.","fullyFundedDate":1758829319444,"projectUrl":"project/clean-and-healthy-school-year/9689058/","projectTitle":"Clean and Healthy School Year","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kong","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2077424"},{"teacherId":9828140,"projectId":9381313,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our classroom. Because of you, my students received poster paper, highlighters, notebooks, calculators, and equity-focused posters and books; materials that made a powerful difference in both their learning and confidence.\r\n\r\nUsing these resources, students completed a ratios project centered on representation and equity. Each student chose a topic that mattered to them and researched gender and racial inequities in areas such as sports, education, and government. They used ratios to analyze real data and then displayed their thinking visually through posters, charts, and written explanations. Without access to quality poster paper, highlighters, and calculators, students would not have been able to clearly organize their data or communicate their ideas in a meaningful way.\r\n\r\nThe notebooks have also had a lasting impact beyond this project. Students are now able to keep their notes neat, organized, and complete, which has helped them develop stronger note-taking habits and feel more prepared for class discussions and assessments.\r\n\r\nMany of my students come from low-income households, and a large number are from Hispanic families currently facing significant hardships due to ongoing uncertainty surrounding immigration policies. For many of them, purchasing school supplies is simply not possible. Your generosity removed that barrier and allowed every student to participate fully and with pride.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, my students felt seen, supported, and empowered to explore important issues through math. These novels have transformed my classroom for the better. Many of the skills introduced through these new texts go far beyond simply understanding the plot. So far, students have been using the Spanish copy of Fahrenheit 451 to practice close reading, analyze theme and character development, and examine author's message in a way that feels accessible and meaningful. Being able to read the text in Spanish has helped students deepen their comprehension while still engaging with rigorous, grade-level content. When we begin Macbeth in the spring, the No Fear Shakespeare edition and the graphic novel will support students as they tackle complex language, interpret symbolism, and analyze character motivation.\r\n\r\nSome students have especially benefited from these new books. My English language learners have been excited to read Fahrenheit 451 in Spanish, allowing them to fully participate in discussions and demonstrate their understanding. Thanks to your donation, my students have had an incredible experience learning about probability in a hands-on and engaging way. Many of them had never even seen a deck of cards before, yet cards are a common tool for teaching probability. Now, with the materials you helped provide—playing cards, various-sided dice, and personal whiteboards—students have been able to explore probability concepts through interactive games and activities. These resources have truly brought the unit to life in a way that traditional lessons simply couldn't.\r\n\r\nThroughout this unit, I've watched my students become more engaged and excited about math. They have been using the cards and dice to play probability games, testing different scenarios, and applying what they've learned in a fun and meaningful way. Having these hands-on tools has not only deepened their understanding but has also made learning feel like play. The extra prizes we were able to provide have added to the excitement, making participation even more rewarding for them.\r\n\r\nAs we near the end of our probability unit, my students are thrilled to take their learning one step further by creating their own probability-based games. With the materials you provided, they have the freedom to be more creative, designing games that incorporate everything they've learned. We're eagerly looking forward to our \"Games Day,\" where they'll get to share and play each other's creations.
