Now the balls are pumped up and ready to bounce. We can hop, jump and spin to use our large of amounts of energy while we play with purpose together thanks to your thoughtful gifts.\r\n\r\nWe love to build social skills by playing together in many new games. In the gym, outside, or wherever we can move we will practice our physical skills. Learning as we go to control our bodies, build our strength, and develop ways to play with our friends.\r\n\r\nSturdy and safe playthings are very appreciated by staff and parents who know the value of student independence. When a child with disabilities can gain a skill like throwing a ball, or jumping with two feet it is a celebration in our classroom. When they can practice that skill with a peer, they gain more social confidence and determination for the next learning task. We have been using our paint stix, google eyes, and adapted books for a few weeks and love what they add to our classroom choices. We use the paint stix in many art projects, from colorful animals to creative collages. We are working on making individual books with a page from each student so that all will see themselves reflected in the books we read. Adapting our favorite books to have movable parts and thicker pages help all students benefit from the rich language opportunity to explore books. As a teacher I love knowing that they are working on early literacy skills even though they think it is play.\r\n\r\nPractical items like the glue, and paint stix you donated help us to offer more individual art process exploration. The google eyes are a big favorite with all the students and will help us engage learners while sustaining independent work time. Google eyes in playdough works on fine motor skills, persistence and creativity during play. With your help, we can give each student developmentally appropriate materials that they are ready to investigate, easy to use and clean up, keeping the experience successful and stress free for all. We love our new tools for learning.\r\n\r\nDonors like you have made a huge impact on my students and classroom with materials we can use now and for years to come.
