I have been using these to teach the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for reading and writing for 3rd grade instead of the usual text book. I cannot begin to explain what a difference I have seen in my students.\r\n\r\nThe number one difference I see is that the children look forward to reading. They are engaged in the stories. Teaching them the necessary skills is so much easier when they are interested and invested in the story they are reading. They have a much easier time making text to text, text to self, and text to world connections.\r\n\r\nSecondly, the scores on our assessments are improving at a quicker pace than in years past. As I suspected, when you like what you are reading, it is so much easier to learn how to take a deep dive into things like author's purpose, inferencing, and plot elements.\r\n\r\nIt has been so gratifying and satisfying for me to see so many students enjoy reading and to see their reading skills improve. I don't think this would have been possible, on this scale, without your generous donations. Thank you so much.","fullyFundedDate":1754253170167,"projectUrl":"project/helping-kids-fall-in-love-with-reading/9494488/","projectTitle":"Helping Kids Fall in Love with Reading!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hottel","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10090786_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y308&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753305203718","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10090786"},{"teacherId":2861295,"projectId":9134273,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous donation, every student in our classroom now has access to quality headphones.
