Our rug is currently wrapped and labeled to be moved next week to our new classroom space, and I am busy prepping new resources to match our new nature-theme. I shared a photo of the new rug with students, who all cheered when they saw how beautiful it is! While there are many different emotions that go into a move like this, one of the things I am most thankful for is that we will have bright, clean, and new materials, such as this rug, to help students feel warm and welcome in their new space. A classroom rug truly is the 'heart' of a classroom space - we spend so much time together building classroom community and learning on the rug. I'm SO EXCITED to get outside and use these! We, unfortunately, experienced rain the first week, so we had to delay our woods adventure for a little bit longer. Instead of feeling sad, we took the binoculars out in the classroom and looked around the room, practiced quietly observing nature (and our surroundings!) out the window, and even got an up-close view of our classmates. Did you know that reading a poster across the room on a wall is much more exciting through a pair of binoculars? Well, our first graders sure thought so! \r\nWe have six first grade classrooms this year and have added two pairs of binoculars to each of our outdoor learning bags to take into the woods. We have a few 'spare' pairs for students to share and swap in as needed, and cannot wait to go adventuring!
