One of the most powerful changes has been the use of the Loop Engage Kids earplugs. Several students who are sensitive to noise now wear them during small-group instruction, independent work, and transitions. Instead of covering their ears or leaving the room, they are able to remain present and focused.\r\n\r\nThe magnetic blocks were a huge hit and are used during STEM time and choice time, encouraging creativity, problem-solving, and cooperative play, while the sensory fish bubble tube provides a calming visual break when students are feeling overwhelmed. These materials have been used on a daily basis throughout the day by multiple students. \r\n\r\nStudent reactions\r\nWhen the materials arrived, my students were beyond excited. They immediately wanted to explore and try everything. One student said, \"This helps my body feel calm,\" while another proudly told me, \"I can work better now.\" Seeing their relief and excitement reinforced just how important these tools are for their success.\r\n\r\nWhat's next\r\nNow that students have consistent access to sensory supports, we are working on teaching self-awareness and independence by helping them identify when they need a tool and choose it on their own. As we continue with reading, writing, math, and social-emotional lessons, these resources will remain a foundation for helping students stay regulated, confident, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students more than supplies, you've given them comfort, confidence, and the ability to fully participate in their education. Your support truly makes a difference every single day.","fullyFundedDate":1759780685139,"projectUrl":"project/supporting-students-through-sensory-tool/9682340/","projectTitle":"Supporting Students Through Sensory Tools","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Adams","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8876496_orig.jpg?crop=2544,2544,x0,y398&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1714426568765","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8876496"},{"teacherId":10181746,"projectId":9609708,"letterContent":"I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation to our library improvement project. It is a welcoming environment where students feel comfortable exploring new genres, discovering new authors, and engaging with topics that spark their curiosity. A well-designed, calm space encourages reading, focus, and the joy of learning—benefits that extend far beyond the school day.\r\n\r\nFor many of our students, the library serves as a refuge when the rest of school feels overwhelming. Now, with our new table, they each have their own space to write, build, and create comfortably. It has become the center of collaboration during reading groups, math centers, and art projects. The children are so proud to gather around \"our new table\" each day—it truly brings excitement and a sense of belonging to our classroom.\r\n\r\nYour contribution has not only provided a piece of furniture—it has created opportunities for focused learning, teamwork, and joyful discovery. Your generosity has not only brightened our learning environment but has also given my second graders the tools and resources they need to grow, create, and thrive.\r\n\r\nArt is one of the most joyful and expressive parts of a child's school experience, and thanks to your support, my students now have an abundance of materials to spark their imaginations. Having access to paints, markers, paper, and other creative supplies means that my students can bring their ideas to life in vivid color. For many children, art is not only a way to practice fine motor skills but also a powerful outlet for expressing feelings and ideas that might be difficult to put into words. Because of your donations, each child has the chance to feel like a true artist. The pride they show when they complete a project is priceless, and that joy would not have been possible without your kindness.\r\n\r\nEqually exciting is the addition of our large classroom carpet with smiley face spots. This carpet has quickly become the heart of our classroom community. Each student now has their own designated spot, which makes group learning, morning meetings, and story time both organized and fun. The cheerful smiley faces bring such a positive energy into the room, reminding the children that school is a happy, safe place where they are valued and loved. It has already transformed our daily routines, helping the students feel comfortable, focused, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nBeyond the supplies themselves, your donations send an even more powerful message to my students: that people care about their education, their creativity, and their well-being. Knowing that there are generous individuals who believe in them gives my students a sense of pride and motivation. They are learning not only reading, writing, and math, but also the importance of gratitude and the impact of kindness.","fullyFundedDate":1746786169406,"projectUrl":"project/art-for-kids/9104813/","projectTitle":"Art for Kids","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Muñoz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7765077_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1738969494818","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7765077"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_36243","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":285,"numTeachers":23,"percentFrplEligible":56,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":71,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":13,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"12.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":55.6,"schoolId":36243,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Roy Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Roy Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/bethel-school-district-403/roy-elementary-school/36243"}
