They have gotten to witness, firsthand, how taking ownership and initiative of their creative journey can impact the presence of Art and Music in their own community. \r\nIn Art in Business and Magazine Publishing, they are truly blooming as designers/artists... utilizing the paint pads, paint markers, and glue that was supplied to create collages and mockups of a magazine cover as one of their first projects. Our Band Management has designed some bold band posters with the neon cardstock we received and our Rock Band Academy, who has chosen their band name No Place Like Home, is learning how to properly adjust their singing/playing to match the whole group, with those much needed microphone stands and drumstick sets. \r\nIt's been fantastic to watch all of this unfold, being such a new program. They walked into the room and immediately began trying out the different options, from wobble stools to cushions and cozy chairs. One student said, \"This is so cozy!\" That moment really showed me how much environment matters in learning. The seating gave them a sense of ownership over their space, and it instantly changed the energy in the classroom.\r\n\r\nWe've been using the flexible seating during small-group discussions. Students are more focused and engaged because they get to choose what works best for them, whether that's a quiet corner with a cushion or a stool at a collaborative table. For example, during our last group project, I noticed students naturally moved to seats that fit their learning styles, some stood at higher tables to brainstorm while others curled up with clipboards to sketch out ideas. The choice helped everyone contribute in ways that felt natural to them.\r\n\r\nWe will continue building a classroom community where students take responsibility for their learning and their environment. The seating is more than just furniture, it's a tool that supports collaboration, independence, and focus. I'm excited to see how this resource will keep empowering students throughout the year, especially as we dive into more hands-on projects that ask them to think creatively and work together.","fullyFundedDate":1754061887182,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating-for-flexible-minds/9491681/","projectTitle":"Flexible seating for flexible minds!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Frangul","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10089346_orig.jpg?crop=480,480,x0,y68&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754779070422","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10089346"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_51653","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":484,"numTeachers":40,"percentFrplEligible":91,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":35,"percentWhite":39,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":8,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"12.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":68.9,"schoolId":51653,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Roosevelt Creative Corridor Business Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Roosevelt Creative Corridor Business Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/iowa/cedar-rapids-community-school-district/roosevelt-middle-school/51653"}
