In addition to the Slappyworld series Goosebumps books, I requested a set of Suzanne Collins' gripping series: The Hunger Games. There are avid readers in my class; these are students that already read books pretty regularly and need little encouragement; they will see new books in the classroom and go check them out. I also have students that don't read regularly, some have shown little interest in reading, but they see my readers swapping books often and that turns into curiosity. \r\n\r\nMy favorite thing about Goosebumps books is the accessibility. These books are not super complex or extremely long, they are short and fun books that can be read in whatever order, with the exception of some sequel books that were written. My curious readers usually begin reading these Goosebumps books and after finishing several, they may move on to larger books. I have had students who have discovered that they themselves are avid readers, they just never really read; now, they're potentially life-long readers.
