We are using our new materials on a daily basis and enjoying every minute. Students are using the action pads to as one student says to \"workout\". The texture paint brushes have become a very popular part of our art area during our playtime. The yoga mats have been rolled out on the regular from the first day they arrived, providing much needed brain breaks as well as flexible seating for various activities. We've also been enjoying the book rack, set up in a little reading corner that has become a popular reward, often chosen instead of the prize box (seriously)! The plastic bins became even more essential than originally realized when I posted this project, as our grade level began switching between classes every morning and students are keeping all of their belongings in the cubbies rather than inside desks now.\r\n\r\nThird grade is a big change for elementary students. The curriculum is no-joke, and begins transitioning from foundational learning-to-read skills during grades K-2 to reading-to-learn and critical thinking skill development necessary to succeed in the upper elementary grades and beyond. Of course learning can be accomplished without all the bells and whistles, but the better the environment and supports in place in the classrooms where we spend our days, the better our chances of inspiring a love for learning and education, overall.
