Many students, who had never had access to these resources before, now feel empowered to take charge of their personal health. The program has also sparked broader discussions about health and self-esteem. The clear storage bins have helped us organize the picture books in our early reader section. We have been able to fully transform the early reader section of our library by organizing books into specific bins. We have added labels to the front of the bins that match the book series or topics within the bins. Early reader books have spine labels that match the labels on the bins. The students can easily find books they are looking for because of our new book bins! I had enough bins leftover to expand our graphic novel section. Students can easily locate popular graphic novels now that each series has its own bin with a label on it. Having these bins has also made it easier for students to help me with reshelving. Putting books in ABC order can be difficult for some students, so they don't get to help out as much as they would like. Now, students can help with reshelving by easily place books where they belong by matching spine labels to the corresponding bins. This made my students very happy!\r\n\r\nMy next project is to start placing my nonfiction books into similar bins. Nonfiction books don't circulate as often as they should. I have tested out placing certain books into front facing baskets to see if they would circulate more. So far, I have placed cats, dogs, cars, drawing books, and joke books into baskets. They students have gravitated to these books now that they are front facing. The baskets I have are flimsy and you can't see through them. My goal is to place nonfiction books in clear front facing bins where they can see what is inside of them to encourage students to read nonfiction texts.","fullyFundedDate":1739372319652,"projectUrl":"project/promote-literacy-by-organizing-library-b/9082891/","projectTitle":"Promote Literacy By Organizing Library Books into Front-Facing Browsing Bins","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Birdwell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9909512"},{"teacherId":9617834,"projectId":8779594,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting my project!
