Your generosity has made a profound difference in our special education classroom, and I wanted to take a moment to share the meaningful impact your contribution has had on our students' learning journey.\r\nTransforming Holiday Learning Through Art\r\nWith the supplies you provided, we were able to complete numerous engaging art projects throughout the holiday season that went far beyond simple crafts. These activities became powerful learning opportunities that addressed multiple educational goals simultaneously. Our students created festive decorations while practicing fine motor skills, following multi-step directions, and expressing their creativity in ways that built confidence and joy. The holiday-themed projects also provided natural opportunities for students to practice social skills as they shared materials, collaborated on group pieces, and celebrated each other's unique artistic expressions.\r\nThe art supplies enabled us to differentiate instruction effectively, allowing students with varying abilities to participate meaningfully in the same activities. Some students focused on basic cutting and gluing skills, while others tackled more complex design challenges, ensuring that every learner experienced success and growth at their individual level.\r\nMulti-Sensory Literacy Success\r\nPerhaps most importantly, the materials you provided were instrumental in creating a multi-sensory literacy block that proved to be both highly engaging and remarkably effective for our diverse learners. Special education students often struggle with traditional literacy approaches, but when we can incorporate tactile, visual, and kinesthetic elements, learning becomes more accessible and memorable.\r\nUsing the supplies, we created texture books where students could feel different materials while learning letter sounds and sight words. We developed interactive word walls with moveable pieces that students could manipulate while building sentences. The art materials allowed us to create letter formation practice using sand trays, finger paints, and textured surfaces that made abstract concepts concrete and enjoyable.\r\nMeasurable Impact on Student Growth\r\nThe results have been truly remarkable. Students who previously showed reluctance during reading time now eagerly participate in our literacy activities. We've seen improvements in letter recognition, phonemic awareness, and reading comprehension across the board. More importantly, students have developed positive associations with learning that extend beyond our classroom walls.\r\nThe multi-sensory approach has been particularly beneficial for our students with autism, ADHD, and processing differences, as it provides multiple pathways for information to be received, processed, and retained. The combination of art and literacy has created a learning environment where every student can find their strength and build upon it.\r\nLooking Forward\r\nYour support has not only enhanced our current programming but has also inspired us to continue developing innovative approaches that meet our students' unique needs. The confidence and skills our students have gained through these activities will serve them well as they continue their educational journey.\r\nThank you again for believing in our students and investing in their success. Your generosity has created lasting positive change in their lives.","fullyFundedDate":1760376486550,"projectUrl":"project/materials-needed/9816295/","projectTitle":"Materials Needed","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Schrimsher","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7500915_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1627828047805","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7500915"},{"teacherId":7500915,"projectId":9620843,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity in helping me fund my class project. Other things I have been able to create include core content binders with adapted materials that align with the adopted curriculum that is symbol supported and functional. \r\nThis is a new classroom and a new program for the district and we came in not knowing all that we would need and thanks to you, I was able to supplement some of the needs. With the materials we are able to provide enrichment and interventions for all of our diverse learners. Next steps include increasing the level of rigor for the adapted materials.
