The decodable books have quickly become student favorites. Students feel proud and successful as they sound out words independently and recognize trick words we've practiced together. After reading the books as a group, many students choose to reread them on their own, building fluency and confidence. It's especially exciting to hear students request specific books to be read again and again—an enthusiasm for reading that reflects both growing skills and genuine joy.\r\n\r\nThe project also included stuffed animals, which have become a powerful tool for motivation and regulation. Students love using them during breaks or earning one as an incentive they can keep with them throughout the day. Carrying a stuffed animal brings comfort, helps students self-regulate, and gives them something familiar and calming as they move through different parts of their school day. These small supports make a big difference for students who benefit from structure, predictability, and extra emotional support. \r\n\r\nThe books and stuffed animals, along with the other pieces of the project, have transformed our classroom environment. They add warmth, color, and a sense of home that helps students feel comfortable and safe. As a special education teacher, creating a space where students feel successful, interested, and secure is essential. These donated resources support not only academic growth, but also students' social-emotional needs helping them feel confident in their learning and excited to come to groups each day.","fullyFundedDate":1755111022981,"projectUrl":"project/our-classroom-library-makeover/9578706/","projectTitle":"Our Classroom Library Makeover","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gittens","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7946342"},{"teacherId":1703158,"projectId":9447600,"letterContent":"Thank you for helping us to build our garden! We have already put our project into action, learning about how plants grow and planting our seeds. \r\nThe students were so excited to see all of the materials that arrived and were ready to start planting right away. We spent time learning about how plants grow and what they need to thrive, then we all helped to plant the seeds safely in the soil. As the days pass we watch with care, watering gently and checking to see which vegetables are beginning to grow. When anyone around school mentions the garden, students are quick to share how everything is growing, but to make sure and check out the arrugula which is growing the fastest! \r\nI am truly grateful for your generosity, which has brought excitement and joy to our class.
