Those are the little square images of differing centers in our classroom. The students use those to know where they are going next on their individual schedules. It is such an important part of our program. You can also see that we make specialized PECS for individual use. Then there's the fun project descriptions I get to write in mulitple languages, describing what the students are doing. It feels like a museum description next to works of art, which is what the students' projects feel like to me. We put descriptions/explanations up for the visitors to our program, including the families of the students. Plus, the students get to see their work on the walls.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, we will be able to continue creating visuals for the students to use as a communication system. That's a really big deal for the students in our program. You made that possible. Thank you for jumping in and making sure that our students get the materials they need to continue to grow and succeed. You've made a really big difference.","fullyFundedDate":1764598242825,"projectUrl":"project/print-the-type-fantastic/9915949/","projectTitle":"Print the Type Fantastic!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Schulz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1214760_orig.jpg?crop=3496,3496,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1627062805927","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/edgar-schulz"},{"teacherId":8620571,"projectId":9418897,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity in helping us get our new classroom rug! It arrived just before the first day of school, and it was the perfect finishing touch to make our classroom feel warm and welcoming. When my students walked in for the first time, they immediately noticed the rug and couldn't wait to sit on it together. It quickly became our favorite gathering spot. \r\n\r\nWe use the rug every day for read-alouds, morning meetings, and restorative justice circles. It's where we come together to share stories, listen to one another, and build our classroom community. Seeing my students so engaged and connected during these moments reminds me how much this simple addition has meant to our classroom.\r\n\r\nThank you again for helping create a space where my students feel comfortable, excited to learn, and proud to belong. Before, we used polyspots for the students to know where to sit. Functional, yes, but not inviting or comfortable. The students were basically sitting on the floor. Wit the use of the cushions you have provided, you have given not only physical comfort, but a way for the students to learn physical boundaries. It has become for the students to physically know where they sit, and it is wonderful to see them being able to sit for longer amounts of time and learn to develop their joint attention skills. Another way the students are learning to help themselves is with the use of the Lego-shaped chewlery you've provided for them. These necklaces are so helpful for our students that need to give themselves oral sensory input, and we now have enough to last us an entire school year; perhaps even longer! All of this is possible because you were kind enough to invest in our students, making the difference that is needed in their lives. For that, I'll always appreciate you reaching out and helping.","fullyFundedDate":1748174757260,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-and-physical-supports/9361219/","projectTitle":"Sensory and Physical Supports!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Schulz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1214760_orig.jpg?crop=3496,3496,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1627062805927","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/edgar-schulz"},{"teacherId":1214760,"projectId":9074737,"letterContent":"Your investment in our program has had an immediate impact. Our students run faster to our library center, they are demonstrating more joint attention, and they even smile more during dialogic reading sessions. And the books that you helped purchase for our library have been a huge hit. The students reach for them and happily investigate the books, reinforced by the beeps and boops of the sound buttons. And it would be remiss of me not to mention how much easier it has been on the staff to join in activities and centers with the use of the new chairs. All of this happened because of one critical factor; you.\r\n\r\nYou took it upon yourself to invest not just in our classroom program, but on the future of our students. And not just for today's students; students for school years to come. I hope you know what you mean to these kids, and what you mean to me. I am so grateful to you. You bridge the gaps in our program and help ensure that our students get everything they need to succeed. I am humbled by your generosity, and will always remember it.","fullyFundedDate":1739940095726,"projectUrl":"project/new-library-and-a-seat-at-the-table/9074737/","projectTitle":"New Library and a Seat at the Table!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Schulz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1214760_orig.jpg?crop=3496,3496,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1627062805927","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/edgar-schulz"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_7150","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":349,"numTeachers":20,"percentFrplEligible":53,"percentAsian":12,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":35,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":32,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"17.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":92.0,"schoolId":7150,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Rio Vista Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Rio Vista Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/los-angeles-unified-school-district/rio-vista-elementary-school/7150"}
