I'm a new teacher, so my students didn't know what to expect when they first walked into our classroom. I feel so lucky that I was able to have things ready for them from the start. Many of my students were in this classroom last year with a different teacher, and they have told me how nice the room feels now and how much they love the sensory materials. That has meant so much to me.\r\n\r\nI am also thankful to have even the basics like crayons since my room really did not have much and I was starting from scratch. A lot of people do not realize all the little things you need until a student asks for it and it is not there. We are currently reading fairytales and discussing what problems the characters in the Three Billy Goats Gruff, The Three Little Pigs, and The Gingerbread Man could do to solve their problems in the tales. They got right to work unboxing the lego bins and opening them up. Much to our happy surprise, they came with instruction booklets for building things. Many of the students started with those, while others created their own buildings and designs. They had a lot of fun with \"free play.\" \r\nNow they are ready to use the Legos in constructing bridges for the billy goats, houses for the pigs, and rafts for the gingerbread man. \r\nThank you so much for your continued commitment to hands-on learning in public education.
