I am so grateful and appreciative. \r\n\r\nWe had a special \"supply reveal\" using the On Strike book series. After reading together, my students discussed why the supplies were angry and went on strike, and how they could ensure they take care of their supplies. This helped them take ownership of the new materials and treat them with care. It was such a meaningful way to build classroom community and responsibility.\r\n\r\nFinally, the flexible seating cushions have quickly become a favorite among students. During our independent reading block, students eagerly choose their cushions to curl up in a quiet spot, making reading time more engaging and comfortable. The new rug has quickly become the heart of our classroom during morning meetings and read-aloud sessions. The smiles on the rug are perfect spots to ensure each student has enough personal space to set them up for success in learning. We gather on the rug each morning to start the day together, sharing our thoughts, setting our intentions, and engaging in activities that foster a sense of belonging. It's amazing to see how the rug has helped create a cozy, welcoming space where students feel comfortable and eager to participate. During read-aloud time, the rug has also become a special spot where students can gather around, listen attentively, and reflect on the story as a group. It really helps establish a sense of community and connection right from the start of the day.\r\n\r\n\r\nNow that we've established the rug as our gathering place, we'll continue using it as a space for important community-building moments. Next, we'll start using it for group discussions around our current read-aloud book. After reading each chapter, students will share their thoughts and predictions, and we'll have mini \"book clubs\" where they discuss the characters, themes, and lessons learned. The rug will serve as a physical space for these discussions, helping them feel more connected to the story and each other. I also plan to incorporate mindfulness activities here, allowing students to reflect and set personal goals for the day.","fullyFundedDate":1733160230720,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-community/8649110/","projectTitle":"Classroom Community","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Sterner","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9655323_orig.jpg?crop=4145,4145,x1036,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1726614994587","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9655323"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_89071","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":377,"numTeachers":28,"percentFrplEligible":16,"percentAsian":7,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":87,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"13.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":75.0,"schoolId":89071,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Richboro Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Richboro Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/pennsylvania/council-rock-school-district/richboro-elementary-school/89071"}
