I know it isn't the \"coolest\" project out there but it was needed more than you know. It was getting to the point in class where NONE of the students had earbuds and they were all listening to their online course work VERY loudly. We had SOME pairs but had no way to clean them. That is no longer an issue!! We have PLENTY of sets of earbuds, little baggies to store them in, and cleaning materials for them. It means a lot to my students to know that perfect strangers donated their hard earned money to purchase items for THEM - kids in trouble with the law. I remind them often that they're KIDS that have made some questionable choices but at the end of the day still KIDS. Not all of the adults they deal with see them that way. So thank you for SEEING my students and choosing to support our project. It goes deeper than the money, trust me and it means the world to me.","fullyFundedDate":1746451925176,"projectUrl":"project/please-turn-the-volume-down-/9063313/","projectTitle":"\"Please Turn the Volume Down!\" 😬","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. B","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7713090_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1644290733232","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7713090"},{"teacherId":7713090,"projectId":8935505,"letterContent":"I can't thank you enough for funding our project \"Do you have more books by . . . ?\" Most of my students admit that they don't read books when they're not in juvenile detention. As sad as that makes me, my heart also swells knowing they're finding enjoyment in something they never did before. I can only hope they will continue their reading journey when they leave our facility. In fact, one young lady said she has a library card but never used it. \"I'm going to use that card when I get out of here, Ms. B. And I was given a cool wooden bookmark that I will now use all the time.\" She didn't have to tell me that and perhaps it might not happen but I choose to focus on the positive which is she sees herself as a reader now. She went on to tell me that she's proud of herself for reading so much and that she really likes it. That's music to a teacher's ears!! Another student was so excited to see that we got The Amulet series. He had mentioned in passing that it was his absolute favorite series. He wasn't much for checking out books but would often come with his class to see what was in the library. The day I put The Amulet series in the library, he noticed them right off. He's checked them all out twice and is now looking for a new series to get lost in. You helped do this@ Thanks again!!","fullyFundedDate":1734545596812,"projectUrl":"project/do-you-have-more-books-by-/8935505/","projectTitle":"Do You Have More Books By . . . ?","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. B","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7713090_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1644290733232","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7713090"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_125729","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":null,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":24,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":12,"percentWhite":65,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":13,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":66.7,"schoolId":125729,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Richard L Bean Juvenile Service Center School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Richard L Bean Juvenile Service Center School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/tennessee/knox-county-schools/richard-l-bean-juvenile-service-center-school/125729"}
