The biggest and most popular was the sand! The students were able to use it as a calming material, the white sand is very fine, not course. So it feels very soft in the hand. Students like to use as a calming material, watching it fall the feel as well as outdoor play material. I was also able to use it as an instructional tool! We truly appreciate your contribution that allowed us to have fun! \r\n\r\nIn this project I also asked for Dry Erase Markers and Weighted Pets. The dry erasemarjerfs were great for student students calming corner, they can use them to draw what they were feeling or draw as a way to calm themselves, also another great material for instruction. \r\nThe weighted pet was a great addition to our calming corner. Student were able to snuggle up with it or use it to support them during transition to different learning areas. \r\nThank you again for your contribution!","fullyFundedDate":1680527637279,"projectUrl":"project/calming-area/7131479/","projectTitle":"Calming Area","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Ruiz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7536695_orig.jpg?crop=1378,1378,x401,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1601402394730","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7536695"},{"teacherId":7536695,"projectId":7544307,"letterContent":"Thank you for your contributions. What a difference they make!\r\n\r\nThe Mr. Potato Heads were a BIG hit! We were able to discuss emotions in a fun way and they can use it to explore their play! The farmhouse as well, very fun! They were able to develop their story telling, their language, turn taking and have fun!\r\n\r\nNow, for the things that were a little more for me. Lysol Sheets! Every project I try to add them because it makes such a difference for clean-up! And reduces the chances of my and my student for getting sick. \r\n\r\nAnother big one is the Velcro dots and Laminating sheets. These are big ones. I can laminate materials for small groups that can be used for everyday or year. I would like to first say, I apologize for not sending a thank you sooner. As you can imagine, it has been BUSY! However, your contribution truly was impactful! \r\n\r\nOne of the items that the students absolutely loved was the mini pots. It was a last minute addition to our project, but they were so excited! We learned all about the seed cycle and how to take care of plants ! They were too excited to take them home and your contribution did that. \r\n\r\nAnother life saver was the Lysol wipes! We did a LOT of science experiments this year and those came in handy. Especially after we got a few kiddos who were sick. If you have a teacher in your life, give them these, they will use them! \r\n\r\nThis project was about a positive environment. Your donation has had a meaningful impact on our students, and I'd love to share what it's made possible.\r\n\r\nReading Wonder has allowed us to explore important themes like empathy, inclusion, and the courage it takes to be yourself. We've been working on reading skills such as analyzing character traits, making inferences, understanding point of view, and identifying themes. But more than that, Wonder has given our class a chance to reflect on what it means to treat others with kindness and respect, especially when someone is different.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading is a collaborative and engaging experience. We read together, stop for discussions, and reflect through writing. Our students are not just absorbing the story—they're connecting with it on a deeply personal level. Many of them have shared that they see themselves in Auggie. Like him, several of our students look different in some way or have had experiences of being treated unfairly because of how they look or speak. This book has helped them feel seen, valued, and understood.\r\n\r\nOne student said, \"People always ask me questions about how I look. I get how Auggie feels.\" Another, who is often shy, opened up during a group discussion and said, \"This book makes me feel like I'm not the only one.\" These kinds of moments are incredibly powerful—and they wouldn't have happened without this class set of books.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, our classroom is not just learning how to be better readers—we're learning how to be better people. We are so grateful for your kindness and belief in our students.","fullyFundedDate":1739282325947,"projectUrl":"project/the-book-of-wonder-club/9032298/","projectTitle":"The Book of Wonder Club","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Caballero","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8342166_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x13,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1736366002271","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8342166"},{"teacherId":9523762,"projectId":8978390,"letterContent":"Thanks to the generous support, my students have had the opportunity to engage with exciting, hands-on literacy activities. One of the most exciting additions to our classroom was a project focused on the story \"La Gallinita Roja\" (The Little Red Hen). This unit was especially impactful as it allowed students to dive deep into the story while developing essential literacy skills.\r\n\r\nThe hands-on activities provided by the Teachers Pay Teachers (TPT) resources created an interactive and immersive learning experience. My students particularly loved retelling the story and engaging in related activities that reinforced key vocabulary and concepts. Through these activities, they not only practiced their oral language skills but also gained confidence in speaking and sharing their thoughts with the class.\r\n\r\nAs a result of this unit, students saw improvements in their oral development. They were able to express themselves more clearly, use new vocabulary in context, and participate more confidently in group discussions. Additionally, the project supported their writing development. They practiced writing sentences and stories related to the theme, which helped them connect oral language with written expression.\r\n\r\nThe most rewarding part of this project was seeing how it boosted my students' self-confidence. By working on engaging and relatable activities, they felt more motivated and eager to participate in learning. The excitement they expressed while sharing their ideas and completing their projects showed how much they were growing as learners.\r\n\r\nThis project has been a fantastic way to promote both language development and creativity in my classroom, and I am so grateful to the donors for making it possible. \r\nAdditionally, I was able to purchase various hands-on activities that supported students' phonemic awareness and phonics skills.","fullyFundedDate":1734099459415,"projectUrl":"project/creating-effective-literacy-intervention/8978390/","projectTitle":"Creating Effective Literacy Intervention Tools for my Dual Language Class","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. R. Our students have been enjoying their new toys and resources every day thanks to you. The Marble Run, Squish & Squeeze Sensory Beads, Out of This World Fidget Board, and the Weighted Washable Calming Book have been very popular with the kids as it keeps them calm and engaged. \r\nThe Giant Soft Blacks are in use every day more so now that we are learning about buildings. The children love to build houses and re-enact the story of The Three Little Pigs. They're now beginning to use their imaginations and imitate what they hear and see so the Doctor's Office Kit has been seeing a lot of use. Some kids like to pretend they're doctors while using stuffed animals as their patients. \r\nWe love to make crafts for holidays and unit studies so the construction paper has come in handy every week when they make crafts based on stories and science topics such as sea animals. \r\nWe hope to continue adding to our already colorful classroom thanks to you. These hands-on resources have inspired my students to dive deeper into creative problem-solving and critical thinking. In our recent project, students worked in teams to design and build houses using the magnetic tiles and bridges with the other builder sets, learning about engineering concepts such as balance, structure, and force. \r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we plan to continue using these resources to deepen students' understanding of STEM concepts. Next, we'll be using the magnetic tiles and building toys to explore geometry and symmetry, while integrating lessons on simple machines. The hands-on approach has not only improved their teamwork and collaboration skills but also fostered a growth mindset. As students test and refine their designs, they're gaining confidence in their ability to think critically and work through challenges.
