The Community Closet has been a passion project of mine for the last couple of school years. This is a resource and necessity that I believe in deeply. But the Community Closet often relies on the generosity of others to function. We could not do this without you!\r\n\r\nSo far this school year, we have been able to provide necessities to students 33 times. This is the most requests we have ever had, and the number will only continue to grow. We are now just about at the halfway point of the school year! So I thought now would be a good time to give you an update about how the funding from this project has helped my students.\r\n\r\nFirst and foremost, having more computer chargers has been an absolute GAME CHANGER. Now, there are no more excuses for students who have a dead computer or who have lost their own chargers. I have more than enough to go around now. \r\n\r\nAll of the other items have been put to good use as well. Snacks have been eaten to crumbs, books have been read to the end, and pens have been used to emptiness. It gives me such piece of mind knowing that I did not have to use my own money to provide my students with these things because they deserve them! I just don't have the funds to do this myself. Your donation has absolutely been instrumental in getting my students on the right foot this year. Never having to worry about a dead device has been incredibly beneficial for my students and the entire classroom environment. When the new drawing pencils and figure mannequins arrived, my students could hardly believe they were theirs to use. They were so excited.\r\n\r\nThe pencils allowed them to move beyond simple outlines. Students layered shading, experimented with line weight, and noticed how much more depth they could create. For many, it was the first time they could see their drawings transform from flat to dimensional. They felt like real artists.\r\n\r\nRight now, we're working on a project where students use the mannequins to design an original character. They'll combine proportion studies, shading techniques, and expressive gestures to create a figure that tells a story. Thanks to your donation, they have the tools to push their ideas further than ever before.\r\n\r\nYour gift has given my students confidence, excitement, and a new way to see themselves as capable artists. Thanks to you, my classroom has been well-stocked, and as a result my students are prepared to learn and I'm able to provide some fun activities without a cost burden to me or my kiddos.\r\n\r\nHere are a couple of the ways these everyday supplies have made an impact:\r\n1. My students keep an interactive journal of their reading and learning. They use the sticky notes, colored pens, and glue sticks to make it happen! They really enjoy this part of the daily routine as it is a hands-on way of taking notes, reflecting on the texts, and building vocabulary.\r\n2. The chart paper allows us to do activities such as carousels, where groups of students collaborate on large paper and then walk around the room visiting and making notes on the posters of their peers. This is one way that the supplies make my classroom more collaborative and interactive, while also getting away from digital screens!","fullyFundedDate":1755710217219,"projectUrl":"project/the-right-stuff/9541766/","projectTitle":"The Right Stuff","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Terenzi","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp385734_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1463493708296","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-terenzi"},{"teacherId":9938863,"projectId":9150850,"letterContent":"I want to thank you again for your support and let you know how your donation has made an incredible impact on my classroom and how it will continue to do so for many years to come. Last spring, my students were able to use the dressforms as part of their final project. They created garments of their choice while learning how to drape or use a pre-existing sewing pattern. This allowed them to see how their ideas can take shape in 3 dimensions. \r\n\r\nBy creating a real garment meant for the dressforms, students learned about the challenges and design thinking skills required by professional designers. Essential questions the students explored in this project include \"How can this garment be made to be taken on and off\" \"What makes clothing fit properly? \"In what ways can a garment be constructed well or poorly?\"\r\n\r\nThrough exploring these challenges students learned not only design skills, but an appreciation of the work that is put into their own clothing. We also explored the role of sustainability in the fashion world. Students were allowed to purchase fabric on their own if desired, but the majority of the fabric used in these designs were repurposed from clothing that was no longer able to be worn. This was another benefit of using the miniature dressforms. By creating at a smaller scale, students had much more flexibility in the materials that they used, thus making their garments both budget, and eco-friendly. \r\n\r\nLooking ahead, I will again have the pleasure of teaching approximately 80 students across four semesters of fashion design. The donated dressforms will be a great asset to my incoming students. I am truly looking forward to seeing what they will create.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of my students, I want to express sincere gratitude for the generous donations given by many.","fullyFundedDate":1746785716285,"projectUrl":"project/fantastic-fashion-designs-come-to-life/9150850/","projectTitle":"Fantastic Fashion Designs Come to Life!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Martinoff","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9938863_orig.png?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1741549704741","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-martinoff"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_62959","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":2115,"numTeachers":129,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":24,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":65,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":1,"gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"16.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":61.7,"schoolId":62959,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Revere High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Revere High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/massachusetts/revere-public-schools/revere-high-school/62959"}
