The students were able to choose a fiction or non fiction book. They took the book home in a plastic zipper pouch to ensure that the book would return each week. Students then get to write about the book they read in their reading journal. They then get to write a book review on their book so other students can become interested in the book too. The lamps and cloud light covers have made my classroom warm and inviting. The students love the carpet squares so they can sit on the floor and read with friend. The best part of the donations is the weighted elephant that they can snuggle in the calming corner. The students were super excited when I turned on the fish and octopus lamps on the first day of school. Students were buzzing about the prizes, carefully counting their stickers, and setting personal goals for what they wanted to earn. One student told me, \"This makes me want to work even harder!\" Moments like that show how motivating this system has been.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll be connecting stickers to academic goals like finishing chapter books, mastering multiplication facts, and completing writing projects. This way, the treasure box encourages both positive behavior and academic growth. Those notebooks are beneficial to my students who struggle with proper letter formation and they make note taking easier for them. \r\nThe pencils were put to use as soon as they were delivered. The pencils are helping my students and encouraging proper pencil grip. They loved the fun colors of the tri-write pencils. \r\nStudents are enjoying the snacks and they really came in handy on our most recent reading assessment. It gave students an extra boost of energy to push through and give their best effort. Students now have access to sensory tools, soft seating, and calming visuals to help them regulate their emotions in a healthy, productive way. One moment that stands out was when a student who often struggles with frustration quietly asked if they could visit the Calm Corner. After a few minutes there, they came back to their work smiling, ready to rejoin the lesson—proud of themselves for making a positive choice.\r\n\r\nRight now, my class is working on a social-emotional learning unit about identifying feelings and choosing coping strategies. They love the rollups and the Pringles. It's definitely one of their favorites. The expo markers have been really helpful in math instruction. They love having vibrant colors to show their math work. The long division boards haven't been used since that will be a math unit covered in November. \r\n\r\nThe Clorox wipes are also a big plus in our classroom. They love using those instead of the brown paper towels we have at school. The crayon box was a big plus they were smiling and very thankful to have their own one. The zipper pouches haven't been used yet as also the dry erase pockets which is our plan to use them in math instruction for our decimal unit with money. Students are learning how to lose with grace and how to encourage others while playing the games. The students also like playing with the Playdoh and the magnetic tiles.
