I had only a few chapter books for them because I had been teaching lower elementary for five years. Then, two weeks into the school year, my school closed. Our enrollment was too low to justify keeping it open. Luckily, I was offered another job in a different school within the district. I went from teaching middle schoolers to teaching fifth graders. By the time I finished transitioning, these books showed up at my new school. \r\n\r\nI wasn't sure if I would be able to use them since the content and reading level of the books were above their grade level. However, my students are avid readers. They begged for the books, and I decided to try it. They mainly chose the graphic organizers since they were easier to read and had lots of pictures. Now they've become a favorite in the classroom. They even ask each other to \"hurry up\" so they can finally read them. I've had to take some of them away because they want to read them during my lessons. \r\n\r\nThese books have inspired them to become better readers so they can read the higher-level books.
