The new reading resources have already made such a meaningful difference in our classroom.\r\n\r\nMy students and I have been using the magnetic whiteboards, phonics games, and Elkonin box sets during our small-group reading time. One of our favorite new activities is a hands-on phonics station where students build and break apart words using the magnetic tiles on the new Hand2Mind trays. Last week, one of my fourth graders—who has been hesitant to read aloud—used the Elkonin boxes to segment sounds in a challenging word and then proudly read the whole sentence to his group. It was a small moment, but you could see his confidence grow right in front of us.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students were thrilled. Several of them immediately asked, \"Are these for us? Can we try them today?\" Their faces lit up as they explored the colorful phonics games and the new mobile whiteboard. Many of my students learn best through movement and tactile activities, so getting tools that make reading feel interactive and fun was incredibly motivating for them.\r\n\r\nThese resources will continue to support our current work on strengthening foundational reading skills. Our next steps include creating weekly small-group rotations where students use the Elkonin boxes, sight-word flash cards, and magnetic boards to practice decoding and spelling patterns. We're also planning to use the new whiteboard on wheels to model phonics routines and track progress as students master new skills. Little by little, these tools are helping students close gaps, build confidence, and see themselves as capable readers.\r\n\r\nYour support has helped create a learning environment where students feel seen, encouraged, and excited to grow. Thank you for giving them the opportunity to experience success in reading—and the joy that comes with it.\r\n\r\nWith gratitude,\r\nMs. Cano\r\nRed Hill Elementary School\r\nGypsum, CO","fullyFundedDate":1760650489711,"projectUrl":"project/helping-hands-for-struggling-readers-ca/9737371/","projectTitle":"Helping Hands For Struggling Readers: Catching Up, Building Confidence","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cano","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9229626"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_70815","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":336,"numTeachers":28,"percentFrplEligible":42,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":38,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":57,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"12.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":73.7,"schoolId":70815,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Red Hill Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Red Hill Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/eagle-co-school-dist-50-j/red-hill-elementary-school/70815"}
