These supports have played a meaningful role in helping students regulate, refocus, and reengage in learning, particularly following moments of heightened emotion or conflict.\r\n\r\nSensory items have been especially effective during brain breaks and counseling sessions. They provide students with appropriate outlets to release energy, process big feelings, and practice self-regulation skills in a safe and constructive way. Through guided use, students are learning coping strategies they can independently apply when they feel overwhelmed, frustrated, or dysregulated. This has led to smoother transitions back to instructional time and improved emotional awareness.\r\n\r\nSnacks have also had a significant impact on student well-being and inclusion. Ensuring students have access to a snack when needed helps address hunger, which can be a barrier to focus and emotional regulation. Additionally, having a snack during classroom snack times allows students to feel included alongside their peers, reducing feelings of isolation or difference. Teachers have observed increased engagement, improved behavior, and greater productivity following snack times.\r\n\r\nOverall, the integration of sensory supports and snacks has strengthened students' ability to self-regulate, cope appropriately with challenges, and fully participate in the school environment. These simple yet impactful resources continue to support both students' social-emotional growth and their academic success.\r\n\r\nThank you for your continued support of practices that promote student well-being and readiness to learn.","fullyFundedDate":1763872679599,"projectUrl":"project/addressing-sensory-needs/9906292/","projectTitle":"Addressing Sensory Needs","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Tandler","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8559464_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1660605120152","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8559464"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_96815","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":509,"numTeachers":25,"percentFrplEligible":35,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":54,"percentIndigenous":3,"percentLatinx":36,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"20.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":65.3,"schoolId":96815,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Ranch Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Ranch Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arizona/j-o-combs-unified-school-district/ranch-elementary/96815"}
