Thanks to your generosity, my room is stocked with books, comfy chairs, games, and calm-down tools for when kids need it.\r\n\r\nSo far, I've welcomed all classes to check out the space and learn about my school counseling program. During my lessons, students get to work together in collaborative games and activities. I love seeing them spread out in our open space, getting to sit comfortably at one of the tables, on a floor cushion, or a yoga mat. It's a nice break from the classroom for them when they come to the SEL space. I love the energy my students bring. \r\n\r\nAnother favorite part of my day is getting to see students for Lunch Bunch. They love checking out all the nooks and crannies of my room. They love playing with the animal puppets and balancing stones. We've also used the Sticky Situations card deck to spark discussions on conflict resolution and relationship building. \r\n\r\nThroughout the day when I'm not hosting lunch bunch or classes, I often get some visitors who need a space to cool down or work through challenges. I let each student decide what will best support them. Sometimes they need some alone time in the cozy tent, other times they create art to help them express how they're feeling. I always make myself available to provide a listening ear when they need it most. \r\n\r\nMy SEL classroom represents how RRS values our students' social and emotional wellbeing, helping them feel more connected to our school's community.
