Your generosity has truly changed the way my students learn math.\r\n\r\nAt the beginning of the year, many of my students struggled with basic number sense. Only four out of twenty students could correctly order numbers from one to ten. Most of my class comes from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, and many had very limited prior experience with hands on learning materials. Paper and pencil activities alone were not making the impact they needed.\r\n\r\nBecause of this project, my students now have access to hands on resources that help them see, touch, and understand numbers in a concrete way. We use these materials daily during math lessons and small group work. One moment that stands out was watching a student who once avoided math confidently place numbers in order and proudly check their work on their own. Moments like that are happening more and more often.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, they were immediately excited and curious. They wanted to explore, ask questions, and get started right away. Many of them do not often receive new learning tools, so it was clear how meaningful this experience was for them.\r\n\r\nThe growth has been incredible. By winter break, sixteen out of twenty students can quickly and successfully order numbers to ten independently. Their confidence has grown along with their skills, and they are beginning to see themselves as capable mathematicians.\r\n\r\nNext, we will continue building on this foundation by strengthening number relationships, counting forward and backward, and connecting numbers to real world situations. These resources will remain an essential part of our daily instruction as students deepen their understanding.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving my students the opportunity to learn in a way that truly meets their needs. Your support has made a lasting difference in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1759254652661,"projectUrl":"project/counting-on-you-hands-on-math-for-littl/9745472/","projectTitle":"Counting on You: Hands-On Math for Little Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Zemanek","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10273705_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758503094496","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10273705"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_67693","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":554,"numTeachers":30,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":49,"percentWhite":11,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":19,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"18.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":60.0,"schoolId":67693,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Robert Benjamin Wiley Community Charter School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Robert Benjamin Wiley Community Charter School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/pennsylvania/erie-city-school-district/r-b-wiley-community-charter-school/67693"}
