The children's faces lit up when we opened the boxes and pulled the items out. My students have so much to say, and now with new material, reading has become fun and meaningful for them. Students can practice skills independently and with partners around the room. They are motivated, happy, and engaged while finding their area to read. They look forward to the end of a reading lesson to select a carpet square or wiggle cushion. \r\n Children who are learning a new language need more opportunities to practice skills in the English language. Learning to read is difficult, and it can be a struggle to encourage students to want to practice. Getting students to want to read can be a battle. However, with these materials, students are excited about reading. While students are engaged in partner or independent reading, I'm able to pull a small group to support students who are struggling with reading or need enrichment. The stools for the kidney table allow me to add more students to the reading, writing, and math groups. The chairs took up too much space; however, with the stools, I can have up to eight students in my group to support learning. \r\n Some of our students came to school in September only speaking Spanish. Now these students have learned letters and words and can transfer that information into their books. Some students have started reading independently in just these few weeks. Thank you for assisting and supporting me in flexible seating. The goal is to help all students become proficient in reading. With explicit instruction and a choice of where in the room to sit, students want to practice skills learned; I'm excited to meet our goals of reading independently. This donation has helped my students grow and has made me a very proud teacher.","fullyFundedDate":1755956466408,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating/9350429/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seating","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Fittipaldi","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3940570_orig.png?crop=695,695,x102,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1707930785492","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3940570"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_359","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":442,"numTeachers":43,"percentFrplEligible":89,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":15,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":82,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"10.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":57.1,"schoolId":359,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about PS/MS 37 Multiple Intelligence on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"PS/MS 37 Multiple Intelligence","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/ps-middle-school-37-multiple-intelligence/359"}
