We have been using the games, art materials, and manipulatives during lessons and structured centers to support communication, social interaction, and problem-solving. One of our favorite moments was during a small-group activity in which students used the fishing game to practice turn-taking; students who are typically hesitant to engage began initiating communication with their peers.\r\n\r\nThe students absolutely love the materials! The colorful art supplies, such as markers, crayons, and colored pencils, have been especially motivating, allowing students to express themselves creatively while strengthening fine motor skills. The puzzles and games have also become a highlight, helping students build patience, cooperation, and critical thinking in a fun and meaningful way. Even small comforts like snacks and water bottles have helped students stay regulated and focused, allowing them to fully participate in learning activities.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, we are now able to take our learning even further. Our next steps include integrating these materials into more structured vocational and life skills activities, such as using games to practice workplace behaviors like following directions, waiting appropriately, and completing tasks. Having something small to eat has made a big difference in helping them stay regulated, attentive, and ready to participate.\r\n\r\nOne meaningful moment was during a group activity when a student who usually struggles to stay engaged was able to sit, eat a snack, and then fully participate in the lesson. Instead of becoming frustrated or distracted, the student remained calm, focused, and even contributed to the discussion. When the materials first arrived, students were excited to open the boxes, knowing we had new gardening supplies to explore. They eagerly examined the seeds, trays, picking out the ones they wanted to use immediately, terrariums, and gardening tools. My students learn best through hands-on experiences, so being able to touch the soil, plant seeds, and set up the growing trays made the learning immediately meaningful. One student carefully labeled our basil plants while another helped assemble the trellis supports. We even reuse the cardboard boxes that the supplies arrive in for projects and seed storage because we believe in sustainability and reducing waste.\r\n\r\nWe are now using the soil, seeds, trays, and watering tools to grow herbs and vegetables while learning about plant life cycles, soil nutrients, and environmental conditions. Students regularly check plant growth, water the seedlings, and record their observations. Our STEM kits and terrariums allow students to experiment and think like scientists by comparing how plants grow in different soils and light conditions. Labeling materials, laminating visuals, and organizing supplies also help students practice important workplace readiness skills such as communication, responsibility, and task completion.\r\n\r\nNext, students will continue to expand our Garden Oasis by growing more herbs and vegetables and preparing items for sharing as part of our school worksite program. These experiences support their transition goals by helping them build independence, teamwork, problem-solving skills, and pride in their work. Your support has helped create a space where students can explore science, develop job skills, and experience the joy of growing something with their own hands. Many learning activities now involve research, writing, and creative projects, and the printer allows students to turn their digital work into something tangible. In the library, students can print research notes, reading responses, graphic organizers, and drafts of their writing, which helps them better understand and revise their work. In the classroom, teachers are able to quickly provide printed materials that support lessons, reinforce concepts, and accommodate different learning styles.\r\nWhat excites students most about this new technology is having hands-on, full-color printing right at their fingertips. Seeing their work come to life in color makes projects feel more real and rewarding. Students are more motivated to take pride in their assignments when they know they can print charts, illustrations, stories, and presentations that look polished and professional.\r\nSeveral students have especially warmed to this technology, particularly those who learn best visually or creatively. Students who enjoy art, design, or storytelling love being able to print colorful visuals to support their ideas. Others who struggle with writing gain confidence when they can organize their thoughts on paper and see their progress.
