My students all have different needs, and having different seating options really helps. The letter chart provides a clear visual and tactile way to introduce each letter, while the tracing mats allow my emergent writers to practice forming letters with the visual support. \r\nOne of our favorite activities has been using the alphabet stepping stones. We use it in our structured play station where we turn it into a fun and interactive game. My students move from letter to letter, saying the names and sounds as they go and they absolutely love it. We implemented it a few weeks ago and it's been a hit! Every week, the related service providers at our school choose students to be the cashier and the snack distributor. We go from class to class with the cart, offering snacks to the students. \r\n\r\nWe use a visual script to help the students learn how to be effective communicators, thus supporting their social communication skills. The cash register has been useful to hold the money and for the students to learn how to use it appropriately (financial literacy). The safe has been great to keep the money we make secure. The plastic bins help keep the snacks organized. All of these parts have been crucial life skills for our students to learn.
