From the very first day, students were drawn to the space. What was once just another corner of the room has become a place where they feel calm, safe, and excited to learn. The nook provides a sense of comfort that helps students regulate themselves, especially during independent work and reading time.\r\nThe impact has been immediate and powerful. Students are eager to sit in the cozy nook, so much so that it has become one of the most sought-after spaces in the classroom. They often ask to complete their work there and remain focused for longer periods of time. The calm atmosphere encourages engagement, independence, and a love of learning. For many of my students, having a comfortable and inviting place to read or work has made learning feel less intimidating and more enjoyable.\r\nThis cozy nook has truly been a blessing in our classroom. It supports not only academic growth, but also students' emotional well-being, giving them a space where they feel supported and motivated. We have been able to gather together for morning meetings, read-alouds, phonics lessons, and class discussions. One special moment was during morning meeting when all of my students were seated, raising their hands, listening to one another, and sharing their ideas with confidence. The whiteboard easel allows me to clearly model lessons during whole group and small group instruction. Crayons, pencils, Play-Doh, erasers, and laminating sheets are used during centers to support writing, math, and fine motor development while giving students hands-on ways to learn.\r\n\r\nMy students were so excited when they saw the new materials. Their faces lit up when they walked into the classroom and noticed the rug and supplies. The rug especially helped create a sense of belonging and made our classroom feel warm and welcoming. The rug and whiteboard will support collaborative learning and clear instruction, while the hands-on materials will help students strengthen fine motor skills and independence. \r\n\r\nThank you for helping me create a classroom that truly supports my joyful and resilient kindergarteners. Your support has made an immediate and meaningful difference for our students.\r\nThe easel and stools have transformed the way we conduct small‑group instruction—an essential part of helping multilingual learners build confidence and language skills. With our smart board currently out of service, having a functional easel has been a true lifesaver. It allows us to model vocabulary, practice sentence frames, and engage students in interactive lessons without interruption. The stools have created a welcoming, structured space where students can gather closely, participate more actively, and feel a stronger sense of community during group work.\r\nYour donation of bilingual books has been equally impactful. These texts give students access to stories they can connect with, honor their home languages, and support their growing English proficiency. Your support has made a meaningful and positive impact on my students, and we are truly grateful.\r\n\r\nUsing the materials you provided, my students participated in a vocabulary bingo activity that supported language development in an engaging and fun way. We reviewed vocabulary words, listened carefully during the game, wrote the words on the whiteboards, and created sentences using each word. Students were excited to share their sentences aloud and support one another throughout the activity.\r\n\r\nAlthough some students initially struggled with spelling, they demonstrated perseverance by sounding out words, helping one another, and not giving up. This activity encouraged teamwork, confidence, and growth while strengthening writing skills—from simple sentences to more complex ones. It also provided valuable practice for the upcoming NYSESLAT exam, allowing students to work on all four language modalities: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.\r\n\r\nWe are also very thankful for the bilingual books, sight word cards, and additional materials. These resources help students build vocabulary, comprehension, and confidence while accessing content in both their home language and English—something we did not have before.\r\n\r\nThank you for making learning fun, meaningful, and accessible for our students. More than 50 students were able to receive a hat, pair of gloves, and a scarf, ensuring they stayed warm during the winter months. Many of my students never had these essential items brand new before and were extremely excited. They picked out their favorite colors filling our classroom with joy and laughter. Some even commented that it was like 'Christmas all over again!\" For a time, students insisted on wearing their hats, gloves, and scarves to 'flex' for the rest of the school. (This I only allowed for a day or two but it goes to show how something that seems so small makes such a big impact.) \r\n\r\nAdditionally, your kindness allowed all students to enjoy snacks on demand, filling in the gaps for every child. As I said in my initial letter, many of my students come from homes with food insecurity. Even though the school does provide breakfast and lunch, my students were allowed to 'choose' their snack. They also didn't have to wait until lunch if they were hungry. I have to add that my students were extremely responsible, only taking whatever they needed at the time. Very special indeed.\r\n\r\nFinally, I would like to tell you of the impact your donation made for our students social-emotional wellness. My young ones were given a gift far beyond warmth and a snack. These inner city darling children were given CHOICE; and this choice was priceless. The excitement and gratitude shown by the students for the kindness of strangers was truly heartwarming.\r\n\r\nThank you again, from the bottom of my heart.","fullyFundedDate":1737938865644,"projectUrl":"project/warmth-for-the-winter/9082094/","projectTitle":"Warmth for the Winter","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rizzi","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5241392_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755704138203","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5241392"},{"teacherId":320874,"projectId":8888854,"letterContent":"This has impacted my classroom in many ways.
