Each item donated made an impact on the lessons taught in the Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle Unit of Study, as well as the Water Unit of Study.\r\nThe students absolutely loved the Lakeshore Science Viewers. It helped them make connections in our Water Unit when they can see the various wildlife that lives in the water. They were asking questions about what they saw and were able to expand their knowledge of how animals and plants live and survive in water. The plush toys let the students have a tactile view of the Earth.\r\nSnack time was nutritious as well as educational with your donations. The students were able to make edible dirt with the pudding and oreo cookies. They seemed to enjoy the idea of making something that they learned about and eating it. These are just a few things we did with your donations. Snack time is when we talk about what we learned today over a healthy treat. We also talk about the snacks and what we see and taste. When I am able to give out snacks it gives the students a little extra food/meal before dinner to hold them over. It also brings a smile upon my student's face to maybe get a treat that they may not be able to get at home.\r\n\r\nThe extra clothing has helped my students to grow in independence. They know accidents will happen and they feel safe knowing that they can change themselves into new clean clothes. Independence for a child at times is knowing that you can make a mistake and move on from it. It is an important life lesson at any age though. I am extremely thankful that people like you have helped me to keep a tradition that I have been carrying out in English each year. Thanks to you, my scholars were able to create their own visions of the different texts that we have read. It was not only a core memory for them, but a core memory for me as well. \r\n\r\nArt was brought to ELA, and my scholars could not have been more excited. They loved painting the dioramas and working together. My students were also proud about displaying their work. It was also exciting to see which texts they engaged with the most since they had to choose a text to recreate. Finally, as far as my next steps are concerned, I plan on completing another hands-on project towards the end of the year as well as a video project.","fullyFundedDate":1713676150238,"projectUrl":"project/storytelling-through-dioramas/8211422/","projectTitle":"Storytelling Through Dioramas","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bailey","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5408255_orig.jpg?crop=1020,1020,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1554482384290","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/msbaileysclass"},{"teacherId":5408255,"projectId":8228867,"letterContent":"Thank you again for your donations. Without you, our students would not have been able to complete their dioramas. Each year, I try my best to make learning transformative and to create core memories. It is also important to me that my scholars don't see ELA as just a subject that they must complete, but as a subject that can be rewarding and completed in several ways other than reading and writing. \r\n\r\nThe dioramas allowed my scholars to recreate settings and be creative.
