The sensory feeling bottles, fidgets, and weighted lap pad have already become an essential part of our speech therapy sessions. We use these resources to help students regulate their sensory needs so they can better focus on communication goals such as requesting, turn-taking, and expressive language. One particularly meaningful moment was seeing a student who typically struggles to stay seated remain calm and engaged during an entire session while using the weighted lap pad and a fidget—allowing them to successfully complete a speech activity with confidence.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their reactions were full of excitement and curiosity. They were eager to explore the feeling bottles and immediately gravitated toward the fidgets. Many students smiled, laughed, and visibly relaxed as they used the items, which set a positive tone for learning. The calming effect was almost immediate, helping students feel safe, supported, and ready to participate.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generosity, our next steps include incorporating these sensory tools into more structured speech and language activities. Students will use them while working on attention, self-regulation, and communication goals across individual and small-group sessions. These resources are helping our students build foundational skills that support not only speech and language development, but also independence and confidence. We are incredibly grateful for your support and the positive impact you've made on our students' daily learning experiences.","fullyFundedDate":1765307746087,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-and-calming-items-for-special-n/9768931/","projectTitle":"Sensory and Calming Items for Special Needs Students","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Debra","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10291614"},{"teacherId":5212968,"projectId":8763849,"letterContent":"Thank you for your extremely generous donation! It's absolutely wonderful to see all of the students involved and engaged in the lessons with this equipment, allowing them to reach their true potential.\r\n\r\nI know for a fact the equipment will be put to good use in the future.
