The cushions and comfy yoga cushion you donated have been an excellent addition to our classroom community. The yoga cushion is located in our break area/comfy corner, and gives students a space to relax or regroup during the day. The cushions are available for students to use when sitting for lessons or independently reading in our class library. It's a great addition to the tile floor :)\r\n\r\nThe magnets in this project help secure our class schedule, calendar, and class rewards system. They are very sturdy, and hold up heavier items that normal magnet clips cannot.\r\n\r\nThe dry erase erasers not only serve the purpose of being an eraser, the students also use them as a fidget/fun tool for sensory seeking opportunities. To start off this school year, our class has been reading the Little Spot of Emotions books. The intro book to this series talks about all kinds of emotions, labeling them, discussing when someone might feel this emotion, etc. For example, the spots that we introduce in the first book are peaceful spot, love spot, confidence spot, anger spot, sadness spot, happiness spot, anxiety spot, and scribble spot. The little plushies that came with the book set got introduced on the page they were talked about, and now each spot gets its own book! \r\n\r\nAs a class, we are now reading each spot of feeling and creating journal entries about times we feel that way. We're only just beginning to explore our feelings, but it is a fantastic way for me to learn about my students, and to see the connections the students have. For example, today we read little spot of happiness, and students completed the sentence: \"I feel happy when...\" and the students wrote things such as \"when I go to the park,\" \"when I play with my friends,\" and \"when I play soccer.\" \r\n\r\nI am so excited to continue reading all of your donated books to my students. It's sparked important conversations about belonging, identity, and pride—giving immigrant children a deeper sense of connection to both their roots and their new environment.\r\nBecause of your donation, our students feel empowered and seen.
