They were so sweet wanting to know who they were and I told them the donors wanted to stay anonymous. I told them we were using Legos to create art. They got all excited and heard happy chatter in the class. I knew when I heard the chatter, I definitely fulfilled the play part of learning. Some of my students never played with Legos so this gave them the opportunity. \r\n The kids were having a blast. We talked about rhythm in art which worked well with the printmaking concept. Students used the base plates and created a design by repeating lines or shapes using the Lego pieces placed on the base. Some students made a design and others created objects we could recognized but all were successful. They then rolled ink on their design and printed in one color of their choice and black. Students liked to see the surprise once they pulled the paper off. I showed them how to label a print and some gave their work a title this showed me ownership of their work.\r\n Next, I'm going to display their wonderful artwork for all the school to see. The students love to find their work on the bulletin board and create a community that is safe to share ideas and feelings. Next project, we will learn about another principle of design and keep building on each project until they leave me after 8th grade. This project will be a reoccurring project in years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1738263238577,"projectUrl":"project/playful-printmaking-in-art/9053008/","projectTitle":"Playful Printmaking in Art","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bossert","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8611897"},{"teacherId":1626929,"projectId":8944409,"letterContent":"As expected, the students at Houghton Academy BPS#69 are loving the new reward machine.
