Your contribution has already made a meaningful impact in our classroom. The students are excited to come in each day and choose the seating option that works best for them, and this choice has given them a sense of ownership and comfort in their learning space.\r\n\r\nThese flexible seating options have greatly improved students' focus and engagement during lessons. Many students who struggle to stay attentive in traditional seats are now better able to concentrate, remain calm, and participate more actively. The seating has also helped students feel confident when coming to the front of the room to share or copy their notes; having comfortable and supportive seating has reduced anxiety and helped them stay organized and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your kindness and for believing in the importance of creating a learning environment that meets the needs of all students. Your donation has truly made a difference, and we are so grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1762265207570,"projectUrl":"project/flexible-seating-for-flexible-thinkers/9568514/","projectTitle":"Flexible Seating for Flexible Thinkers!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nunez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10165074_orig.jpg?crop=678,678,x349,y407&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754766314004","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10165074"},{"teacherId":10165074,"projectId":9573545,"letterContent":"The new book sets have introduced a wide range of valuable skills and lessons to my students. Through the adventures in Percy Jackson and Harry Potter, students are learning about themes like friendship, courage, and resilience, while also expanding their vocabulary and comprehension through rich, descriptive language. Roald Dahl's imaginative tales teach creative thinking and empathy, and Dog Man has been a great tool for reluctant readers—its graphic novel format builds fluency, strengthens sequencing skills, and encourages visual literacy. These stories naturally lend themselves to discussions about character development, plot structure, and making inferences, all of which are essential reading skills.\r\n\r\nReading time in our classroom has become one of the most exciting and engaging parts of the day. Students are often seen reading in pairs, excitedly talking about what's happening in the story, or choosing a quiet corner to get lost in their favorite series. It's a joy to see students so invested—they're not just reading because they have to, they're reading because they want to. One student who used to avoid reading altogether now can't put down Dog Man, and another is racing through Percy Jackson and proudly giving chapter summaries to anyone who will listen. These books have truly transformed reading from a task into an adventure, and I couldn't be more grateful for the joy and growth they've brought into our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1758898987890,"projectUrl":"project/our-chapter-begins-here/9573545/","projectTitle":"Our Chapter Begins Here!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nunez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10165074_orig.jpg?crop=678,678,x349,y407&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754766314004","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10165074"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_2143","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":376,"numTeachers":35,"percentFrplEligible":84,"percentAsian":32,"percentBlack":6,"percentWhite":4,"percentIndigenous":9,"percentLatinx":43,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"10.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":81.0,"schoolId":2143,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about PS 65 Raymond York Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"PS 65 Raymond York Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/ps-65/2143"}
