One of our favorite moments is during our \"brain break\" rotations, when students choose a sensory tool or complete a movement activity before transitioning back to learning. We've also incorporated the materials into literacy and math centers, where students practice counting, letter recognition, and fine motor skills while staying actively engaged. Watching students use these tools to calm their bodies, refocus, and confidently return to learning has been incredibly rewarding.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement was contagious! The children couldn't wait to explore everything, and they immediately began asking thoughtful questions and sharing ideas about how they could use the new tools. What they saw as fun quickly became meaningful learning experiences as they discovered how movement and sensory supports help them feel calm, focused, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nAs we continue through the school year, these resources will remain an essential part of our daily instruction. Our next steps include using them during small-group literacy and math activities, social-emotional learning lessons, and collaborative play that encourages problem-solving, communication, and self-regulation. Thanks to your generosity, my students have access to an engaging classroom environment that supports every learner and helps them build the confidence and skills they need to be successful both in school and beyond.","fullyFundedDate":1778066906609,"projectUrl":"project/wiggle-touch-learn/10064941/","projectTitle":"Wiggle, Touch, Learn!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Dowd","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10003429_orig.png?crop=331,331,x77,y24&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1769527684088","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10003429"},{"teacherId":10003429,"projectId":10073608,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your incredible generosity and for making it possible to bring Tonieboxes and Tonies into our Pre-K classroom. Your support has already made a meaningful difference in the daily lives of our students.\r\n\r\nWhile many children are surrounded by technology at home, the Toniebox offers a very different kind of experience. Instead of looking at a screen, our students are learning through active listening, imagination, and storytelling. The Toniebox has become a calming, screen-free tool that helps develop language skills, listening comprehension, vocabulary, and social-emotional learning. As children listen to stories and songs, they practice focusing their attention, following directions, expressing emotions, and building empathy for others.\r\n\r\nThe excitement in our classroom has been contagious! Students love choosing a Tonie character, placing it on top of the box, and watching the story come to life. The simple, hands-on design encourages independence, allowing even our youngest learners to confidently operate it on their own. It has quickly become one of the most requested activities during choice time.\r\n\r\nThe Toniebox has been especially meaningful for students who benefit from a quiet moment to regulate their emotions or who are still developing language skills. Some children who are typically hesitant to join group activities have found comfort sitting with the Toniebox, listening to familiar stories, and then sharing what they heard with classmates. We've also seen students use the calming stories and music to transition more smoothly throughout the day and return to learning feeling more settled and ready to participate.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has provided our students with so much more than a listening device. It has given them a safe space to imagine, learn, grow, and find calm in a busy classroom. Thank you for believing in our young learners and for investing in experiences that nurture both their minds and their hearts.","fullyFundedDate":1778066905459,"projectUrl":"project/screen-free-listening-to-build-calm-and/10073608/","projectTitle":"Screen-Free Listening to Build Calm and Focus in Pre-K","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Dowd","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10003429_orig.png?crop=331,331,x77,y24&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1769527684088","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10003429"},{"teacherId":2443418,"projectId":10018983,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity! Preschool classrooms are vibrant, engaging spaces, but for many young learners the constant activity can feel overwhelming. Your support has allowed us to provide developmentally appropriate sensory tools that help children regulate their emotions, focus their attention, and feel safe and supported in their learning environment. Because of your gift, our classroom is better equipped to meet the diverse needs of every child who enters it.\r\n\r\nResearch in early childhood education consistently shows that access to sensory regulation tools can reduce off-task behavior, increase attention, and support positive social interactions, especially for children with sensory processing challenges or emerging self-regulation skills. These tools give students healthy, structured ways to manage their sensory needs, helping them return to a calm, ready-to-learn state and participate more fully in classroom routines and instruction.\r\n\r\nBy funding this entire project, you have invested in proactive, inclusive practices that promote emotional well-being and academic readiness. Your generosity is already making a meaningful difference, creating a calmer classroom environment where all students can thrive and begin developing lifelong self-regulation skills. We are deeply grateful for your belief in our students and for the lasting impact of your support.","fullyFundedDate":1769192048113,"projectUrl":"project/helping-hands-for-sensory-needs/9988196/","projectTitle":"Helping Hands for Sensory Needs","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Dowd","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10003429_orig.png?crop=331,331,x77,y24&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1769527684088","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10003429"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_109314","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":243,"numTeachers":12,"percentFrplEligible":58,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":79,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":2,"percentLatinx":7,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":1,"percentMultiracialImputed":3,"gradesServed":"K - 1","studentTeacherRatio":"20.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":86.2,"schoolId":109314,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about PS 360 New Choice Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"PS 360 New Choice Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/ps-360q/109314"}
