For many of our students, hands-on art experiences are not only fun, but also important opportunities to express themselves, build fine-motor skills, and feel proud of what they can create. Having high-quality materials makes all the difference, and you've given them that gift. \r\n\r\nAlthough we don't know who you are, please know that your generosity is felt every day in our room. It was heartwarming to watch them engage with the items, which have helped create a calm and focused learning environment. One special moment was when a student who usually struggles with transitions used a sensory tool to self-regulate and then participated happily in a group activity. The snacks have also been a wonderful way to support students' energy and focus throughout the day.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we plan to continue integrating these sensory supports into daily routines to help students manage their needs and stay engaged. Share a specific classroom project or moment.\r\n\r\nThanks to your generous support, we were finally able to set up our very own classroom pantry! We used the new shelves and storage containers to organize all of our cooking, snack prep, and life skills materials. One project the students especially loved was our \"Build Your Own Breakfast\" activity — they got to choose items from labeled bins like oatmeal, granola bars, fruit cups, and more. Not only was this fun and functional, but it also helped them work on sequencing, choice-making, and basic food prep skills.\r\n\r\nHow did your students react when they first saw the materials?\r\n\r\nThey were so excited! Several students kept saying \"Wow!\" and \"Is this ours?\" as we unpacked and set things up. One of my students even asked if we were \"on a cooking show\" because everything looked so neat and professional. Their sense of ownership and pride was obvious from the very beginning — they immediately wanted to help label bins and put items in the right spots.\r\n\r\nWhat are the next steps for your students on a current classroom lesson or project?\r\n\r\nNow that our pantry is up and running, we've begun incorporating it into weekly life skills routines. Coming up, we're starting a \"Snack Station Manager\" job, where students take turns stocking the pantry and preparing simple snacks for the class. This encourages responsibility, planning, and fine motor practice. We're also gearing up for a unit on healthy choices, where we'll use the pantry to compare food groups and talk about balanced meals.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping us make this vision a reality. Your contribution made a lasting impact — not just in our classroom setup, but in the real-life skills our students are building every single day.","fullyFundedDate":1742929616738,"projectUrl":"project/a-place-for-everything-creating-a-funct/9204697/","projectTitle":"A Place for Everything: Creating a Functional Classroom Pantry","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Glick","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6721329_orig.jpg?crop=664,664,x0,y192&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1575420915512","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/j-glick"},{"teacherId":2619213,"projectId":8874660,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donation! My students were beyond excited when they first saw the bins, t-shirts, and cash box arrive—they immediately wanted to get to work. Their smiles and enthusiasm were priceless as they put on their team shirts, set up the bins around the school, and began collecting bottles and cans.\r\n\r\nSince receiving these materials, we have been actively sorting recyclables, learning about environmental responsibility, and practicing teamwork. One of my favorite moments was watching a student who typically struggles with communication take the lead in explaining to a teacher how to properly sort bottles and cans. Seeing their confidence grow has been incredible!\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we plan to track our collections and use the cash box to manage funds from recycling deposits. The students are eager to set goals for saving and decide how they want to reinvest the money into future classroom projects or donations. This experience is teaching them financial literacy, organization, and the power of giving back.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has truly made a difference—not just in our classroom but in our school community. Some immediately unrolled their mats and began testing their favorite poses. One student exclaimed, \"Now we can all have our own space, just like in a real yoga studio!\" Another shared, \"It feels so nice to have something soft for my hands and knees!\" The mats have brought excitement and a sense of ownership to our mindfulness practice.\r\n\r\nWe are currently working on incorporating more advanced yoga sequences and mindfulness techniques into our lessons. The next step is to link these practices to our health curriculum, teaching students how yoga and mindfulness can improve physical and emotional well-being. We're also planning a special \"Yoga Showcase\" where students will demonstrate what they've learned and share how yoga has helped them focus and manage stress.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for your generosity!
