My students were so excited and some of them said \"Miss it is like Christmas!\". Some of them told me they have never received a package or have never had anything that was new. They could not believe people we do not even know donated these items to them. This whole conversation melted my heart, so I want to personally thank each and every one of you for giving this experience to these students. \r\nUpon opening the book, my students who speak Swahili immediately picked up the books in their language and were so excited to be able to read something in their language. They loved how they could understand what was being said in the bilingual books. We started using some of the verb cards and they said how they liked that there were pictures to show what was happening because a lot of times they are in class and see these words but have no idea what they mean or look like. \r\nThank you so much again for all of your help in funding this project. I only wish you could be here when they opened it and see them using it throughout the year. Many could not believe they were real, but they wanted to touch them and hold them. Everyday students come in to see if the chicks are here so they can see and hold them. \r\nWe let the chicks out each day into their blue running cage and they love watching them learn to jump and use their wings.\r\nThe students have taken pictures of the chicks to share with you all. We are going to be labeling parts of the chicks, reading non-fiction mini books about them, and creating our own vocabulary books. \r\nThank you to all our donors who helped make this fun and informational unit possible. Many times my students have greatly improved their focus once I have given them something to eat. They will now be able to go to class with proper writing utensils and places to put their work. Thank you all for making this possible!
