Instead of reading about different rocks and minerals and how to differentiate between the two, they were actually able to hold different rocks and minerals in their hands. My students are hands on learners and they are able to really grasp the new content and material easier this way than reading a textbook.\r\n\r\nAs our year progresses and we are able to use more materials, like the real life model of the different cores of Earth, we will be able to use these materials to help assist with project based learning. My students do not do well on common exams and tests to show their learning, but they do well with showing their knowledge in a project style.\r\n\r\nMy students could not believe someone was so generous as to donate so many different things to our classroom to help mold their minds. You are forever in our hearts and we hope you feel our gratitude.","fullyFundedDate":1758819455925,"projectUrl":"project/a-new-way-to-explore-our-earth/9589326/","projectTitle":"A new way to explore our Earth!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Klin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4772667"},{"teacherId":5115934,"projectId":8822721,"letterContent":"The support received through your donations has made a tremendous difference in our classroom. Your support has made a profound difference in the lives of our high school students, many of whom come from low-income households and are newly resettled refugees navigating not only a new country, but also a new education system.\r\n\r\nFor students who have faced immense challenges—war, displacement, poverty, and language barriers—having access to reliable technology is not just helpful, it is transformative. Your donation has opened doors to learning opportunities they previously could not access. With laptops, headphones, and other essential tech tools, our students can now participate more fully in virtual learning platforms, complete assignments on time, and develop digital literacy skills that are essential for both academic success and future careers.\r\n\r\nBeyond academics, your gift sends a powerful message to our students: that they are seen, valued, and supported. I can't thank the donors enough for your willingness to support students in this way. I feel incredibly fortunate you could see the importance of meeting basic needs in a student's learning journey in order for them to reach optimal success, and and appreciate all the contributions toward making this a reality. \r\nAs a school psychologist, I am exceedingly familiar with Maslow's Hierarchy Of Needs, but if you by chance have not, it is a theory often depicted in the form of a pyramid, with physiological needs at it's base, safety needs at it's next tier, followed by love and belonging, esteem, and self actualization at the very top. The premise behind the theory is that you must meet the needs at each of the proceeding levels before you can meet the needs at the next. What I have found in my career, is that many of these fundamental needs are taken for granted, and there are a large portion of students who don't have even the bottom of their \"pyramids\" (including things like food, water and shelter) fulfilled. It is my educational philosophy that schools are places that should be contributing towards meeting many of these needs, chief among them a sense of safety, belonging, and esteem, and my hope that in helping to pour these into our students we are ultimately helping them to have their full potential reached, and best self actualized. \r\nThis project, while it's intention and end goal is certainly to help students towards higher academic achievement, provides much more than that. Through your kind donations, my students are now able to access much needed supplies to infuse their pyramids with. Snacks to help keep them fed, gloves to ensure they are warm, hygiene products to help them feel clean and composed, and a comfortable place to come sit and talk so they can know they are supported. I know that through this, many of our students will be able to come to school now without having to focus on physical or social emotional worries, and instead concentrate on themselves, their studies, their goals, and their futures.","fullyFundedDate":1741133272640,"projectUrl":"project/meeting-students-fundamental-needs-to-h/8900556/","projectTitle":"Meeting Students' Fundamental Needs to Help Them Progress in School","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Reitano","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9329629"},{"teacherId":5115934,"projectId":9021459,"letterContent":"Thank you for your contribution to my classroom.
