This is rarely the case. There are almost always some gaps in their fraction knowledge.\r\n\r\nI created a system I call Black Belt Fractions. I took all of the skills needed to be a master at fractions and broke it into \"belts\" like in karate. Students take belt tests to demonstrate knowledge and then when they show proficiency they receive a wrist band of that color to be \"belted\".
