I take the time to show even the pre-K how to use and store sharpies properly so they last, but alas we often need new ones. So these markers will definitely get some great use. \r\n\r\nOur old brand of chalk pastels was discontinued and prismacolor is a higher quality chalk I used to only allow upper grades to use. BUT, my littles have really been showing me how great they are at using materials responsibly and respectfully so these new chalk pastels are to replace their discontinued ones. When I introduced the new chalk to them they were elated that they can now use the same chalk as the \"big\" kids! \r\n\r\nThese generous donations are truly a game changer in our art room. These paper towels allow for a quick and easy cleanup for spills, but they also are really great for wiping down oil pastels so we don't get other colors on our artwork where we don't want them. I have also taught the students how to erase watercolor oopsies with these paper towels which they call \"magic!\"\r\n\r\nThe pottery tools help students score with ease to ensure their clay parts stick and the ziplocs are to keep their clay moist between classes so they can jump right back in and continue their clay work. \r\n\r\nThese items may seem like small supplies, but they are an integral part of our art making adventures. They really make our very large number of students who use the art room weekly- independent workers that can clean up and use materials responsibly and respectfully. It has completely changed how much I can use the instruments in the music classroom. Every time I can easily roll the instruments in and out of the classroom space to use them, I silently (and sometimes verbally) thank Donors Choose for providing these. Students can even help move the instruments now, so they are taking ownership of the classroom space, as well.\r\n At our school, the students have music class once a week for 45 minutes, so it's wonderful to make the most of that limited time. Now, I am able to plan a lesson that includes our instruments and also movement or Promethean activities, since we can easily move the bass xylophones out of the way to do other things.\r\n It is humbling and heartening to see our families, kind strangers, and corporations support music education in the public schools. I have taught music classes my entire adult life and I have no doubts that the impact on the students is vast, and is shown in direct and indirect ways.
