I use the table to model problem-solving steps, introduce new concepts, and create anchor charts that stay visible and accessible as students work. Meanwhile, students use the surface to take notes, solve problems together, and check their thinking in real time.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite classroom moments so far happened during a small-group math workshop. Students were working through multi-step word problems, and instead of hovering over worksheets, they all gathered around the table, sketching diagrams, labeling steps, and revising ideas together. For the first time, I saw students eagerly jumping in, drawing out their thinking because the table made it feel more like a shared project than an assignment.\r\n\r\nTheir reaction the very first day was priceless—eyes wide, excited chatter, and a few \"Wait, we can write right on this?\" moments. They immediately started exploring, and within minutes they were jotting down questions, circling ideas, and helping each other brainstorm.\r\n\r\nThanks to donors like you, my classroom feels more hands-on, more interactive, and more creative. Our next steps involve using the table as the central workspace for our upcoming research and presentation project. Students will use it to organize notes, draft outlines, and build visuals before transferring their work into digital presentations.\r\nThank you for giving my students a tool that brings their thinking to life every single day. \r\n\r\nThank you!!\r\n- Harley","fullyFundedDate":1755746072397,"projectUrl":"project/making-small-group-learning-cozy-connec/9475121/","projectTitle":"Making Small Group Learning Cozy, Connected, & Creative","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Harley","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp30909_orig.jpg?crop=1094,1094,x1939,y537&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1661912930297","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/harley3rdgrade"},{"teacherId":30909,"projectId":7529711,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our classroom! Because of your donation, our students now have access to high-quality headsets with microphones—and they've been putting them to amazing use.\r\n\r\nIn our Media Literacy Studio, students used the headsets for interactive projects, collaborating with me on everything from interviews to voice-overs. Now, they continue their creative journeys with Ms. Katherine in the Tech Studio, using the very same headsets for videos, podcasts, and so much more. Their confidence, voices, and storytelling skills are growing stronger every day—all thanks to your support.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has helped create real opportunities for students to express themselves, work collaboratively, and build 21st-century skills in a space where they feel empowered and heard.\r\n\r\nWe're so grateful. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for supporting our 3rd grade ICT classroom during such a meaningful and foundational year.\r\n\r\nAs first-year co-teachers navigating the challenges of unfinished learning in the wake of COVID-19, your generosity gave us the flexibility and tools to be creative, responsive, and student-centered in our approach. Your support helped us build a space where every student—no matter their background, ability, or learning style—felt seen, supported, and excited to learn.\r\n\r\nOur students are curious, compassionate, and full of energy. With your help, we were able to give them a classroom that reflects who they are: diverse, dynamic, and ready for adventure. The materials you helped fund became part of how we built community, sparked curiosity, and nurtured a love of learning in each child.\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in our students and in our journey as educators. We use it to wake up in the morning to our Alexa device or to program our coffee machines to have a cup ready and waiting. Robots are cleaning our floors and opening our doors. While children are growing up with all of these things around them they don't understand how they work unless they are taught. Your donation to my project has been an integral part in that work. \r\n\r\nThe Dash robot has been such a hit in my classroom. Students see me once a week but in the hallways express how excited they are to come and work with the Dash robot in a few days. The robot has allowed my students the opportunity to see and experiment with coding to observe how the robot responds to different commands. Seeing my students light up when they have an \"ah ha\" moment is priceless. \r\n\r\nMy students with special needs especially enjoy working with the robot. They have been more engaged when working with peers to solve challenges. Students are also asking more thought provoking questions about how this applies to other types of robots. I hope that this experience has opened their eyes to different career paths they could take later in life.
