The children especially enjoy listening to stories together with a friend.\r\n\r\nThe Tonie gives the students the opportunity to listen to prerecorded stories of their favorite book. In addition, the grownups in our classroom have also recorded readings of more of our favorite stories. It is so exciting for the students to be able to choose their own Tonie characters and \"read on their own''. Our Listening Center has become our most popular center because of the Tonie. The moment they saw games like Pop the Pig and Greedy Granny, their faces lit up! They couldn't wait to take a turn. What they didn't realize was that every roll, pop, and silly surprise was helping them practice speech sounds, expand sentences, and strengthen their overall language skills.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments came during a session with a student who is usually hesitant to speak. Using our new auditory feedback whisper phones, he was more motivated than ever to use a louder voice volume and ended up producing more speech sounds in one session than I've heard all year.\r\n\r\nWe're also using the Pineapple SEL toy to practice identifying emotions and talking about feelings, which has been especially powerful for my students who struggle with social communication. The kinetic sand and magnetic vehicle builder have opened the door for pretend play and vocabulary building in ways that feel natural and fun.\r\n\r\nYour support has given my students more than just materials, you've given them motivation, confidence, and joy in learning. My students love the discovery boxes and the positional words resource box! Both of them are really fun and engaging. The objects in the discovery boxes are cute and soft, and perfect for young children. When my students open the boxes, their faces light up in excitement. \r\n\r\nThe positional words resource box allows my students to learn spatial concepts while playing a fun game. They enjoy touching and moving the manipulatives so much. It comes with a bridge, a pond, a lily pad, a toy box, and cards with instructions embedded with spatial concepts. It is exciting for them to put the car under the bridge, the frog on the lily pad, the duck in front of the pond, etc. \r\n\r\nI was intending to use both for teaching spatial concepts, but I have found that the discovery boxes are also great for describing, categorizing, and comparing/contrasting objects. Each box contains a food, an animal, a ball, and a crayon in a certain color, so if a student picks the apple from the red box and the banana from the yellow box, they could say, \"They are similar because they are both fruits. They are different because the apple is red and round and the banana is yellow and long.\" Some of my students made great progress in their abilities to compare and contrast objects, using these objects. \r\n\r\nThank you again for your generous support! Basic linguistic concepts are vital for academic success and overall learning. These materials will make a lasting impact on my students.","fullyFundedDate":1743275089072,"projectUrl":"project/linguistic-playground-discovering-words/9016963/","projectTitle":"Linguistic Playground: Discovering Words and Meaning Through Fun!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Chikage","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9577425"},{"teacherId":2238133,"projectId":8955790,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your contribution. The materials I was able to purchase through this project are benefiting my students and me immensely! The picture cards are incredibly helpful in teaching new concepts. There are a variety of basic prepositions, which is confusing for young children, but these picture cards present the concepts with simple but appealing visuals. Also, my older students are expanding their vocabulary for feelings using the emotions flash cards. We share our feelings at the beginning of speech therapy sessions, and I have encouraged them to use words beyond \"happy\" and \"excited.\" Now they are using more sophisticated words such as \"cheerful,\" \"merry,\" and \"thrilled.\" \r\n\r\nThe Writing Revolution book is amazing. It teaches me how to improve students' writing step by step. I have implemented activities such as sentence expansion, practicing different sentence types, and increasing sentence complexity with conjunctions. Having my students repeatedly practice writing using these tools is showing great results.\r\n\r\nLast but not least, I love the small erase board, visual timer, and teaching clock. By being aware of their time and schedule, my students can regulate themselves and focus better. Breaking up our therapy sessions has a calming effect on them. \r\n\r\nI am truly thankful for your generous donations.
