By combining Panda's Let's Explore! curriculum with hands-on artmaking, students engaged with global cultures in a way that was interactive, memorable, and developmentally appropriate.\r\n\r\nNearly all of my students come from low-income households and may have had limited opportunities to explore cultural celebrations from around the world through immersive, creative experiences. These materials allowed students to create zodiac animals, lanterns, dragons, and other Lunar New Year-inspired artworks while learning about the history, symbolism, language, and traditions associated with the holiday.\r\n\r\nThrough these projects, students strengthened fine motor skills, problem-solving abilities, collaboration, and artistic expression. More importantly, they developed respect for cultural diversity and gained a deeper appreciation for traditions that were different from their own. Art provided a powerful way for students to connect with new ideas, ask questions, and celebrate the rich diversity of our community.\r\n\r\nThe impact of this project extended beyond a single lesson or holiday. Students left with a greater sense of curiosity about the world, increased confidence in their creative abilities, and a stronger understanding of how art can help us learn about and honor different cultures. These experiences fostered empathy, inclusion, and joyful learning that will remain with students long after the celebration ended.","fullyFundedDate":1773416092591,"projectUrl":"project/artful-traditions-exploring-lunar-new-y/9992485/","projectTitle":"Artful Traditions: Exploring Lunar New Year Through Creativity","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. A","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9272665_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1698010308883","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-ay"},{"teacherId":9272665,"projectId":9992242,"letterContent":"The impact of this project will extend far beyond art class. These sensory and creative learning materials will provide over 300 PreK–2 students with opportunities to explore, create, regulate emotions, and build confidence through hands-on experiences.\r\n\r\nMany of my students come from low-income households and benefit greatly from learning environments that support both academic and social-emotional development. The sensory floor tiles, light table, building materials, and modeling tools will help students develop fine motor skills, problem-solving abilities, spatial reasoning, and collaboration while also providing calming sensory experiences that support focus and self-regulation.\r\n\r\nThese resources will become part of our daily classroom routines, giving students a safe and engaging space to explore their ideas, manage stress, and express themselves creatively. For our youngest learners, play-based and sensory-rich experiences are essential pathways to learning. By providing these tools, we are helping students strengthen critical thinking, creativity, resilience, and independence while fostering a sense of belonging and success in the classroom.\r\n\r\nThis project will create lasting opportunities for joyful learning, ensuring that every child has access to materials that support their growth as both learners and creative thinkers.","fullyFundedDate":1773416092357,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-wonderland-a-place-to-explore-a/9992242/","projectTitle":"Sensory Wonderland: A Place to Explore and Learn","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. A","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9272665_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1698010308883","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-ay"},{"teacherId":9877957,"projectId":10056697,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for the materials. We have incorporated them into several of our daily lessons. For example, the Alphabet and Numbers Puzzle, we utilized this activity for letter and number recognition. Additionally, the used the puzzle to practice fine motor skillls in the form of visual discrimination via sorting images, shifting, translation, and rotations of the parts. When the students saw the materials, they were excited as it was new, colorful, and challenging. They were able to switch/trade with peers to increase their exposure to the alphabet.\r\nIn art materials, students were able to have more opportunities to paint and create free forms of interpretative art. They requested work time at the easel more frequently, as their favorite colors were now available to choose from.","fullyFundedDate":1773416092714,"projectUrl":"project/vibrant-learners/10056697/","projectTitle":"Vibrant Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lakoju","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9877957"},{"teacherId":9272665,"projectId":9599722,"letterContent":"The rechargeable light tablets have greatly improved our middle school visual arts classroom by helping students refine their drawings, trace sketches, and experiment with layering and animation.
