Thanks to your generous donations, we were able to achieve our goal of creating an accessible and inclusive cookbook specifically designed for middle and high school students with disabilities and other developmental challenges. The cookbook includes recipes that use simple, easy-to-find ingredients and feature step-by-step instructions, breaking down tasks into manageable steps so students can prepare healthy meals on their own. Recognizing that many of our students come from low-income households, we also included guidance on managing finances and making the most of what they have available. Some of the recipes we made were: fruit pancakes, parfaits, smoothies, pizza quesadilla, baked doughnuts, nachos, banana pudding, etc. \r\n\r\nFor our students with disabilities, safety is often an overlooked concern. That's why we made sure to include essential life skills, such as labeling, math, grocery shopping, following directions, hygiene, fire safety, and the safe use of household items. By encouraging students to apply what they learn in the classroom to their personal lives, the cookbook is helping to foster independence and build confidence. It's a tool that not only empowers students but also provides families with invaluable resources to support their journey toward greater self-sufficiency. At the end of the school year, we hope to gift these cookbooks to the parents, sharing with them the skills and knowledge that their children have gained. Your donation means more than words can express—it has made this year truly special, and for that, I am deeply grateful.
