Once they saw them they began asking what they needed to do to earn them. With this new incentive my students are working harder than ever to get their reward. The thing about my incentive system is that it is not immediate. They usually have to work 10 to 15 classes before they are able to get to the treasure chest. I'm hoping that with this system students will begin to understand that you have to work hard consistently to get what you want. I want them to get out of the habit of believing that things are just handed to them. I want them to be able to handle when they don't get things right away. They have to keep at it. \r\n\r\nMy next steps are for my students to continue working towards their next goal. For example, they are able to go to the treasure chest when they reach 10 stars. This is equal to 10 days of behaving positively and completing their work. The are able to get one treat. Their next goal is 20, which means they can get get 2 things from the chest. It continues this way through the end of the school year. The kiddos were beyond happy and grateful when we opened the box and they saw all the snacks. They are so happy and excited knowing that the snacks have been restocked. I know a snack seems like a small thing but it does so much more for these kiddos, then just fill their stomachs I had one kiddo who was so excited because now they would have a snack at lunch just like all their friends. I still have my one buddy who stops by everyday and as he grabs his snack he fills me in on what's s going on with him. They loved getting the bracelets, stickers and medals. They were all walking around with huge smiles and showing off what they got. I saw one girl in the afternoon and she had a bunch of the bracelets on. When I asked where she got all of them, she told me a bunch of the kids were trading bracelets for medals.
