Because of your generosity, our classroom now has a color printer and new number block toys, and my students are already learning and engaging in ways that weren't possible before.\r\n\r\nHere's how your gift is making a real difference:\r\n\r\nHow the technology is helping my students learn\r\nOur new color printer lets me create clear, visual supports that are essential for young learners. I use it to print:\r\n\r\nColor-coded math worksheets and center activities\r\n\r\nPicture schedules and behavior charts\r\n\r\nVisual vocabulary cards and labels for the classroom\r\n\r\nThe color makes a huge difference. Students can quickly see patterns, match colors to numbers, and follow directions more independently. For example, I can print addition problems where each addend is a different color, and students use the number blocks in matching colors to build the equations. This helps them see how numbers combine, instead of just hearing me explain it.\r\n\r\nWhat students are most excited about\r\nThe number blocks have become the star of math time. Students love:\r\n\r\nBuilding \"number towers\" to show how big or small a number is\r\n\r\nUsing blocks to act out word problems\r\n\r\nMatching printed color task cards with the correct number block structure\r\n\r\nMath has become more hands-on and less intimidating. When they see the blocks and the bright task cards, they're eager to participate instead of shying away from the work.\r\n\r\nStudents who have especially warmed to the new materials\r\nOne student in my class, I'll call him \"Jordan,\" used to get frustrated when we worked on addition and subtraction on paper. Since we started using the blocks with our new printed visuals, he now grabs the blocks first and builds the problem before writing anything down. He's gone from saying \"This is too hard\" to \"Can I do another one?\"\r\n\r\nAnother student, who has difficulty with fine motor skills, struggles with writing but can show understanding by using the blocks and pointing to printed answer choices in color. With the printer, I create multiple-choice math mats with big, colorful options. This lets him participate fully in the lesson and show what he knows without being held back by writing.\r\n\r\nYour donation did more than provide \"stuff\" for our classroom. It gave my students tools that match how they learn best: with color, movement, visuals, and play. They feel proud using \"real\" materials that look like what they see in grown-up spaces, and they know that people they've never met believe in them.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students and their education. We are all so grateful for your kindness and support.\r\n\r\nWith appreciation,","fullyFundedDate":1758899158879,"projectUrl":"project/visuals-for-all/9697806/","projectTitle":"Visuals For All","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Ortiz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8808281_orig.png?crop=1245,1245,x154,y16&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757387563503","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mr-ortiz409"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_296","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":418,"numTeachers":36,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":29,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":65,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"11.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":79.5,"schoolId":296,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about PS 107 on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"PS 107","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/ps-107/296"}
