The wooden tea set and the styling kit were an instant hit with the girls. The moment they opened them, they immediately began doing each other's hair and \"getting ready,\" while others gathered around the tiny cups and teapot to serve everyone pretend tea. Their imagination took off right away, and it has quickly become a favorite center in our classroom.\r\nWe also put the dry erase markers to use immediately. Each week, students use them to trace our letter and number of the week, practicing fine motor skills and building confidence as they see their progress. I've also created a calming corner in our classroom, and the markers have become an important tool there too students quietly trace shapes or follow guided lines as a way to reset and regulate their emotions. It's been incredibly helpful to watch them use these materials to calm their bodies and minds.\r\nOne of my favorite recent moments was watching a usually shy student step into the pretend \"tea party,\" offering cups to her classmates and joining in conversations she would normally sit out of. These materials truly open doors for social play, creativity, and connection.\r\nAs for what comes next, we're continuing to build on these skills. Students will keep using the dry erase markers as we introduce new letters, numbers, and shapes, and the pretend play materials will be part of our storytelling and social emotional lessons. They're already imagining new scenarios and asking to help set up \"salons\" and \"tea shops\" during center time.\r\nThank you so much for giving my students these opportunities to learn, play, regulate, and grow. Your generosity has made a real difference in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1757541266841,"projectUrl":"project/where-memories-are-made/9415904/","projectTitle":"Where Memories Are Made","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Quebrado","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9132743_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1721027400217","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9132743"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_90585","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":642,"numTeachers":28,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":7,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":89,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"22.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":74.2,"schoolId":90585,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Prunedale Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Prunedale Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/north-monterey-county-unified-school-district/prunedale-elementary-school/90585"}
