Here's what that has looked like in our classroom.\r\n\r\nA microbit is a tiny programmable computer, about the size of a credit card. Students build their code on screen, send it to the device, and watch it do what they told it to. It can light up, count steps when it's shaken, or react when two are pushed together. A meowbit is similar, but it has a color screen like a handheld game console, so students can make their own games. Most of us use technology that someone else built. In my classroom, the kids are the builders.\r\n\r\nThat's where the learning happens. When code doesn't work, students can see why right away. The light doesn't blink, or the character walks off the screen. So they change one thing and try again. That cycle of testing, failing, and adjusting is what scientists and engineers do all day. Many of my students learn differently and have IEPs, and they don't always get to practice being wrong without it feeling like a failure.
