One of our favorite activities has been using the whiteboards to practice sight words and phonics—students write a word, read it aloud, and then erase to try a new one. During math, students solve addition and subtraction problems step by step, which helps them explain their thinking and build confidence. The students were so excited when they saw the whiteboards! Their faces lit up, and they couldn't wait to use them. Many students said it made learning feel more fun and special. Because the boards are reusable, students feel comfortable making mistakes and trying again, which has really encouraged participation—especially for our bilingual learners. Our next steps include using the whiteboards to support sentence writing, vocabulary development, and math problem-solving in both languages. Students will practice writing complete sentences, answering comprehension questions, and explaining math strategies. These whiteboards are helping our students become more independent, engaged learners, and they are an essential part of our daily instruction. Students had also been using the BAKAM frog balance scale to compare sets of objects, edxeducation Transparent pattern blocks to build numbers 0-15, Lakeshore Magnetic/Spanish magnetic letters to build words, recognize letters a-z, Cutefa magnetic dry erasers to mention some. My students stayed focused, engaged and excited when using their new resources during centers.
